Cutscene skip mod has a virus?

I got it from the speedrun.com page of max payne 3, its in the resources there. If you check the guide page for MP3 on Steam it's recommended to get it there. In the guide it's claimed that the cutscene skip mod is a false positive for a virus lol. Who knows though eh?

Who knows indeed, certainly not me.

I didn't check the link but it happened a few times for me for other games, can't remember what exactly, I just allowed my anti-virus to download it and it was fine, no problem.

Definitely a good idea to be careful with these things but it's probably alright if many people are recommending it on Steam.

Mod itself doesn't have it (I'm using it), but maybe the one you downloaded was modified by somebody on that website?

It's most likely a false positive detection due to the archive containing the .DLL file for the ScriptHook. I've been using the cutscene skipper for months and nothing bad happened. Upload the archive to an online scanner like VirusTotal if you want to make sure. If you can't download it because your Windows Defender/AV software/firewall interferes, turn it off for a few minutes, download the archive, install the cutscene skipper and add appropriate exceptions if your software keeps interfering.

If you want to use that, then download it from Moddb or Game Pressure. I downloaded from former and had no issue.
If you did downloaded it from the shady website then you should delete it immediately, and scan your PC with anti virus or Windows Defender.

That's weird because I have Windows Defender (like everybody lol) and Avira, and none of those flagged as a virus, and neither they tried to block it.
