Max Payne 3

My campaign progress won't save.
So, I bought Max Payne 3 during the summer sale, and I'm absolutely loving it.
On one day, I had been playing for a while, and I'd gotten up to Chapter 13 or something. I was playing the Prison level and was about halfway through the level, just past the part where you find the slideshow in the briefing room. I paused the game for a bit and left my PC, and when I came back and tried to unpause the game, nothing happened. I mean, I could hear the menu sounds as I tried to unpause and use my arrow keys to scroll through the options, but nothing was changing on the screen.
I decided I would try to navigate back to the main menu and try to reload the game, so I used my muscle memory and the audio cues to highlight the "quit game" button, and I selected it. I heard the game go back to the main menu, but I was still staring at the pause screen from before I left my computer.
I tried ALT + Enter-ing, ALT + Tabbing, etc etc, nothing fixed it. I decided to just quit the game and try to restart, so I navigated down to the "quit" button in the main menu, again, still using nothing but audio cues, and managed to quit the game. However, when I quit the game, a message came up saying "Max Payne 3 has stopped working". I ended the task and went on with my day.

The next day, I got on to play, I clicked on "Story" and moused over "Continue" and tried to click, and nothing happened, which is when I realized that the "Continue" button was greyed out, as if I'd never started a new game. I went to "Chapter Select" and noticed that the game didn't think I had even unlocked the prison level, and I couldn't select it. However, this was in contradiction to the fact that on the opposite side of the screen, while highlighting the prison level, it showed all the clues and golden gun parts I'd discovered, and the Rockstar Social Club even showed my achievements from the level.
I figured it would be easily fixed by simply replaying everything, so I loaded up the previous chapter I had unlocked (the mission right before the prison level), and selected the final checkpoint of the level (because I didn't need to play through it again, obviously).
I got back to the prison level and played through the entirety of it and ended up at the final Airport level. I finished up the first firefight there and got a checkpoint, and I decided to see if it had saved my game this time. I backed out to the main menu, clicked on Story again, but still, "Continue" was greyed out! And upon clicking "Chapter Select", it STILL showed that I didn't even have the Prison level unlocked!

I did some googling on this issue, and it seems like I'm among the very few unlucky people to encounter this game-breaking bug. This isn't fun to hear, because that in turn means that there aren't many solutions.

Here are the solutions I've tried:

-Navigating to Documents/Rockstar Games, moving the folders "Profiles" (located under Documents/Rockstar Games/Social Club) and "Max Payne 3" to desktop (to simulate deleting them without losing the folders). (Relaunching the game re-creates these folders)
"Deleting" Profiles didn't work, and "Deleting" Max Payne 3 deletes your saves, as I'd suspected. I don't want to lose all the progress I've made, so I moved the original Max Payne 3 folder back to where it was.

-Ensuring the Max Payne 3 folder located under Documents/Rockstar Games was NOT listed as "Read Only"

-Restarting PC

-Validating files on Steam

Here are the possible solutions I have NOT tried:

-Uninstalling and Reinstalling (This game is like 40 f***ing GBs, dude. It'd take me like a day and a half to redownload)

-Contacting Rockstar Support (Never had very much success with them)

It'd be much appreciated if anyone knew of a solution to this issue. Thanks in advance!

What a payne in the ass
Possible Solution: Quit the game to main menu when your enter a new chapter, then continue your game again and then quit to desktop.

Doesn't work to me.
I searched on web and I didn't find anything that works!
These are some of the options that I find and doesn't work to me but maybe can work to you:
1- Try changin' the MSA settings (you can turn back later). The game will restart and when you click on the selection chapter, you will see them unlocked.
2- I saw some people downloading a file that unlocks every chapter... but I read one comment that say it's a malware...

I'll try reinstall and than I will say if did work.

I had this same problem and tried everything even factory resetting my PC. If you haven't found a fix, you could try starting new game in hard and changing difficulty after you reach a new chapter cause that seemed to work for me.
