Windows 8 DirectDraw with nVidia GTX 550ti

I cant seem to get fable to run at all. Tried all the compatibility modes etc diffeant nVidia drivers but Windows 8 will always say that DirectDraw is unavaliable under dxdiag. And then fable errors on startup saying it needs DirectDraw. I have tried running the DirectX 9.0c Install but it just says its not needed. Any ideas?

Dont have any codecs installed if you do uninstall it.
codecs are programes that let you be able to play diffrent video and
audio formats they effect fable with playing video and audio.


Goto the fable the lost chapters in the place you installed steam
when in the steam folder goto SteamApps then Common then click on Fable the lost chapters
right click Fable (it has symbol net to it) and click troubleshoot compability
once opened troubleshoot compability press `Try recommended settings
then press "start the program"
if it dosent work and the game crashes it will ask if it worked and because
it didn`t it will try a diffrent mode for you.


If nothing works
go on steam
go to library
right click fable and click properties
go to the local files
and press verify integrity of game cache
wait for it to finish and hopfully it works.

In all fairness i play every game on Win 8 fine. First time i have tried to play an "older" game. BF3, Dota 2 infact like... anything released in the last 4-5 years is no problem

Windows 8

There are horror stories all over the internet about Windows 8 being horrible for gamers. Stick with Win7 for your gaming PC.
