Retrieving the Harbinger. (sword in the stone)

OK so im just gonna jump right in here and get technical. I powered thru the game w/o upgrading strength whatsoever and finally got to pull on the sword so i can build up my strength. After pulling it I had to stop playing for a while so I hero saved and started playing again later. After I built up my strength i was short xp for lvl 5 physic so i grinded thru Albion to get enough to get the 5-2-3 you need, but when i tried to pull it nothing happened. So im thinking I messed up by trying to pull it on the different hero saves before I upgraded my strength. Can anybody verify this? Im pretty bummed i gotta do it over again to get the sword and I dont want to screw it up again. And it sucks having no sword wielding abilities or health bar.

It has nothing to do with your strength. You have to donate money to the temple of Avo. How much you have to donate depends on how good you are. The more good, the more it'll cost you.

Ive done it several times by improving strength. I think i just srewed myself by reloading hero saves. im not about to dump gold on a sword i know u can get w/o donating anything

You have? I was pretty sure that was impossible, but I haven't played through the game completely in a few years. If you eat a dozen or so baby chicks to get yourself nice and evil first you can get it pretty cheap I think.

i just got it out. yep, u pull it once, then increase physic by 5 health by 2 and toughness by 3 then on your second attempt it will come out. just dont mess it up like me and pull it once, hero save, then quit and reload and increase strength because it wont recognize the first attempt on an earlier save. i didnt even know u can get it by donating. when u get it by donating is it still stuck in the stone too?

Yep, I think you get a message or something saying you got a special reward or something. It's been awhile. But I didn't realize you could get it by leveling a specific way, I'll have to try that at some point.

the donation one is a different weapon, the stone one you can ONLY get by pulling it out of the stone :)

actually it is based on your attributes the first time you try so if you try to pull it while super weak it will record your strength on the first pull from there and you wont have to work too hard to get it how ever if your might stats are half full when you try to pull it the first time you WILL have to max out you might to pull it out ive done alot of resaerch just on that one damn sword but i know this is right ive experimented but check it for yourself

Alphabet Soup is right, donating will give you a different weapon, you need to buff your strength stats to get the sword in the stone, but it's such a terrible weapon that by the time you can get it there will already be a ton of other, better weapons available
