Ways to Make Fable Harder
Many people like myself have had loads of fun with Fable but simply wish it was more difficult. While there have been some mods made to rebalance Fable and make it more challenging, unfortunately the only known forum dedicated to hosting these mods (fabletlcmod.com) has recently shut down. So here I am to propose some ideas for self-imposed challenges to play the game with.

CHALLENGE 1
Sell resurrection phials: One of the major balance issues that makes Fable too easy is how many res. phials the game gives you. I always end up with far more than I ever need and it devalues them completely. So I always end up selling most or all of the resurrection phials I get. It makes the game a little more difficult and you also make a tidy profit every now and then.

CHALLENGE 2
Healing Limitations
  1. No healing mid-combat: Restrict yourself to healing only after a fight is over.
  2. No healing without sleeping: Restrict yourself to healing only once you've slept somewhere.

CHALLENGE 3
Limit your age: The way the ageing system in Fable works for those of you that don't know, is that every time you level up a single spell or ability (ie physique, speed, magic power, etc.) your character gets older by 0.7 years. So one way to make the game more challenging is to limit how many times you level up by restricting your character to a maximum age well before 65. If you limit your character to 39 for example (I like to stop here because once I hit 40 my character starts looking older than I prefer.) you still get to level up 31 times and make your character significantly more powerful without becoming *over*powered and making the game too easy. And another plus is that you don't end up looking like a senior citizen while every other character is the same exact age they've always been.

CHALLENGE 4
Play to a specific class: Since Fable has a system where it will label your character a certain class based upon the way you fight and spend xp, this can be used as a useful tool to challenge yourself a bit. Firstly, just play the game WITHOUT checking the 'Personality' screen under 'Hero Status' until you've done 3 quests. Once you check it at that point, see what class you've gotten and try to keep that class for most of the game. A list of all the possible classes can be found on the Fable wiki here.[fable.wikia.com]

If you have any feedback about these ideas or other challenge ideas yourself please feel free to comment below. Thanks for reading. :)

Only use equipment that you find out there instead of buying the best stuff
Try tying your level cap to quest completion. Basically, you can only level up when you receive a “Quest Completed” screen. There are 35 total, counting both the Melee Combat Test and The Final Battle. In practice, only 34 of those are useful since The Final Battle is the end of the game with no further content beyond it.
No abusing the shopkeepers' quantity=value mechanic.
