How to Real Estate?
Hey, I'm really unknowledgeable about this game, but everyone and everyone's grandma says they make tons of money using real estate and rent. I started with a new game, so I'm a bit poor, so I was wondering if anyone could provide some progression on the properties I buy and how I should go about building my empire.

The main money goal in mind is around 20,000 gold, because I'm looking to buy a set of armor that's some of the best in the game (I like to be tanky). From what I understand, that's around the value of the bright platemail suit, the armor set in question. Is that amount unreasonable for a real estate money-making system? Any advice is appreciated!

I like to make money initially by performing boasts on my quests, then I start buying up property after making it to Oakvale. iirc the cheapest marital home in TLC is the one in Bowerstone South and the cheapest buy prices in real estate is in both Bowerstone South and Oakvale, but it's far easier to get extra buildings in Oakvale since you can't kill all the villagers in Bowerstone South because kids are immortal.

Which, btw, you do need to kill the current owner of a home before you can buy it. The only exception to that is marital homes which are already up for sale. So unfortunately if you don't want to go on a killing spree real estate is probably not your best choice, as you'll only be making rent from the marital homes in towns.

Altho you could also take villagers into the wilderness and let hostile mobs kill them, but they have to die.

Hope this is helpful, it's been a long time since I did a full playthrough of TLC.

You don't have to kill anyone! While in Oakvale, or any other village with the exception of Bower Stone South, all you need to do is get them to follow you. Depending on your level of renown, you can get up to ten villagers to follow you using the "Follow" expression. Then take them to the graveyard or Bower Fields and tell them to "Wait". Go back to Oakvale and their houses and businesses will be up for sale. Again, depending on your level of renown, it may take a few tries until you get all of the villagers. Buy them but don't rent them at first. Search them for the books and other goodies. Then rent them. It is best to try this early in the mornings. Let me clarify about Bower Stone South. You can get all of the villagers to follow you but when you take outside the gate or the Quay and tell them to "Wait", the only buildings you will be able to buy are the Clothing store and the Barber shop. The houses will NOT be for sale at any time.

Hope this helps!
