You can also hero save during the tutorial. Pass the tests, do the bonus grading for the katana, crossbow, and resurrection phial, do Maze's test, but before you step into the experience thing go to the trader, sell EVERYTHING you can - villager clothes, weapons, red apples, resurrection phials - EVERYTHING. Hero save and reload from that save.
Good job, you kept all the cash and the 800 green xp and you're 10 again. Do this a few times to get out of the gate with better stats than usual. I do it about 3 times but I have a save I intend to do 3x every once and a while on. Takes about 15 minutes if you just do the basics tutorial stuff, play in the woods with Whisper and take the grading challenges.
If you don't feel like getting every silver key in every spot, take the Lost Child quest. Go to Rose Cottage and dig up the Silver Key in the circle of roses, hero save and repeat.
Best way to grind is to get at least level 2 Shield, level 4 mana bar and a ton of mana potions (guild shop restocks every 2 days and carries about 30 at a time.) Head to the Hobbe caves and go from room to room; best if you do it with a bow, but you'll end up getting 20 combat multipliers. Once you hit 20 and there are no more enemies, turn Shield on and off. It gives you 5 Will xp per activation; if you spam fast enough you can get 10k experience before that multiplier hits 0 (or even 5.) Doing this got me to Famous status before I bothered with the Wasp Queen, level 5 in Skill stats and level 7 mana bar before I did Orchard Farm. This game is too easy.
If you really want to power level, enter the Arena with a max combat stat (Strength or Accuracy) and maxed out mana bar/Physical Shield. Sweep it but rest before the final challenge (after the stone trolls I think) - get like 17k gold and a ton of xp, hero save, repeat. Takes longer but if you're just trying to finish off or switch styles it's the second best way to do it (Hobbe caves are better but empty after the Lost Child quest.)
Next go to the darkwood marshes demon door and do the challenge with your new bow. DO NOT GO THROUGH THE DEMON DOOR.
After finishing off the waves of hobbes go towards the greatwood caves, using the skorms bow to 1 shot everything on the way. Be careful not to let anything hit you. If you can make it to the Greatwood Caves without getting hit you should be either at 14 combat multiplier or close enough to it that ducking into the hobbe caves once or twice should get it for you.
With 14 combat multiplier open the greatwood caves demon door for the cutlass bluetane. Equip it along with the bow, run back to the marshes for the demon door there, and go and kill the first Quest's wasp boss with a set of legendary weapons and a full outfit.
