14x combat multiplier demon door?

Ok so i read that you need 14x combat multiplayer to open it. I thought this meant that i just have to get 14x at one point in the game, THEN talk to the door. That's apparently not it, got a 17x in the hobbe cave, talked, wouldn't open. Am I meant to have 14 WHILE I talk to him? How? Even if i get it at the closest possible point (hobbe cave entrance) just the world transition to the door loses you like 5 combat multiplier levels, not to mention those youll lose running to it. How the F*** am I meant to do it? Alternatively... is there a way to saveedit/cheat it open?

You need to use spells like the slow time spell.

Thats some bs, can I cheat it open? Is there a line in my save file that says which are open? Cos I'd love to just do it that way.

Here's my way of doing it super early (Before even going through witchwood to Oakvale via main Questline)

Run into the Hobbe cave, go through the second door on the left where the 5 silver key chest is, have alot of stocked up will potions and keep your physical shield spell up at all times (If you don't have it, what are you doing? Best thing to have for high multipliers).

Beat up anyone in the chest area, go back and in reverse, kill any Hobbe from the bottom back to the top quickly and efficiently. By the time you do, you should have at least a 17x multiplier close to the cave exit (16x might be cutting it very close, but 17x should be guaranteed if you killed quickly), in which the remaining on the surface should get you just about to 14x, of which you'll then need to talk to the Demon Door ASAP.

Nope, going to the surface with a 17x gets you 8x when you enter the new cell.

Aw really..? I'm sorry then.. Try further inside if there's more hobbes below. If that still doesn't work, guild seal in the same cell as the door, find a place where you can get high enough to offset the teleport reduction then recall back, that's the slower but for sure way.

Any luck pal? I managed to come up with a different tactic. It still involves the Hobbe cave though, as that is the best way to ramp up and being so close to the Demon Door.

It started spawning a troll/giant thing outside the door, so I just needed to get a 17x multiplier inside, run out, slow time, lay into the troll/giant and that got me to 14 in time for the door.

Shoot the troll giant with your bow and use the rock near the cave as a shield do this until it's dead and you should have plenty

you could always use your stick on the harder enemy purely for the combat multiplier and slow time to make it easier to not get hit, or also do as dweed said and shoot it with a bow, using slow time makes it much easier to fight the trolls you will need it before arena because there are two rounds where you have to fight two trolls at once so I recommend it lol

The shield spell thingie (been a long time since I played) prevents you have losing multiplier if you get hit if I recall.

Yes, but everytime you go into a new area your combat multiplier gets cut by 5 so you should have at least 20-24 before going to the demon door

I seem to remember the push spell on corpses boosting combat multiplier if spammed properly.

Not anymore it doesnt. I got hit once, went from combat multiplier 28 to 12 in an instant

The easiest way to get this is to use the bow. The longer you pull back your bow the larger the combat multiplier will be when you hit a target. The thing is, there is no upper limit to this, or if there is it is ridiculously high.

If the troll is spawning then you can hide behind one of the rocks in front of the hobb cave entrance and just sit there pulling back your bow. I pulled it back for literally 5 minutes and it one shot the troll and gave me a 25 combat multiplier. I couldn't believe how easy it was after everything else I tried.
