NEED HELP!!! Game starting error
Anyone got any ideas why every time I start Binary Domain I get an error as following:

"Graphics device invalid, please run the configuration tool."

I tried to run the config tool and changed some things around but the game still doesn't seem to start.

Any suggestions?

I just tried it all over again. STILL no change. Same freakin error! And I know it is NOT my video card because I have played this game on this video card before.. All the way through in fact! My wife coulda killed me stayin up all night playin a bloody game!. Anyway. I am so tired of this I have turned it over to an official complaint to Sega.. No telling how long it will be till they get back to me. I'll let everyone know.. The funny thing is.. I have this game in my Windows 7 STEAM account running the same video card, sound card and memory and it runs fine. Just a little hickup from time to time with the sound and voice interaction just like with XP and my first play through on my XP. It just does not make any sense!...

I don't know what this means or is for because I don't use very many of STEAM's social
network tools. I haven't a clue of where to look for whatever is supposed to show up and
I think mine is set to ignore invites or some such because I don't use it since I only play
singleplayer games.

As for the tool. There is something about running Administrater mode? I am running XP
and I am the computer administrator so this should be by default. But to force manually
I tried to find the selector for setting this with the tool, and game, execute/shortcut, but
there doesn't seem to be a provision on mine to force "Administrater" mode.

I don't know what to do about it at this point and I have not heard squat from the game
site support people either.

so my tool run on your computer but it can't find Binary Domain. Is your computer 64bit or 32?

My XP is 32 bit. It finds the game but it can not find something to do with install document
or file. Then says something about this will now crash and bang.. Back to Windows..

I finally gave up and completely uninstalled the game, went to my documents folder, found
and deleted the game folder there. Ran regedit basically removing the game completely
from my computer by deleting all file entries for Binary Domain from my registry.

This is the extreme way to deal with such issues. And I did all this after the latest STEAM
client update installed.

I just restarted my computer and STEAM. Then went to my library and told it to install the
game. This way I figured would come as close to a clean and uninfluenced installation so
that it would not have any old files or crap to slip into it and mess it up again.

The results.. Well. The game's configuration tool launched and let me change settings to my preferance and then it actually launched the bloody game! I went to the ingame settings, ran my changes and then ran the voice command setup process.. Got 98% accurate word match score. This is a bit better than my first time around... I then went into the campaign mode and it took me to the entry point with the rain and partner.. So.... I THINK the game MAY be fixed.. I will sit and play it if so later when I have some time to just kick back.

Note for everyone with this display invalid issue. It'sa Beeyatch. But I fixed it the hard way!

Take it from me... If no other way can make the game work for you.. Do the hard way like I
did.. If Ur not comfortable searching and cleaning your registry there are registry cleaning
tools that should be able to remove the game registry tags for you but I am not sure where
to get them.

OP HERE.

To be honest, I really don't think this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game is worth the effort of browsing 10 different webpages and reading all the comments for a solution... After everything I went through to get it launching properly, less than 5 minutes into the game the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing gliched on me making it unplayable.

Feel free to check out my review on this ♥♥♥♥. Link here: https://steamcommunity.com/id/illwreckum8iswear/recommended/203750

The only time I had any problems with the game was getting the voice commands to work. Half the time the game could not detect my mic... But I did manage to play it all the way through.. But that was before this recent update that has caused this device error.. So I am figuring that the real culprit in ALL of our game problems is STEAM. It's funny how the games that I have that are NON-STEAM dependant release versions of game that I also have on STEAM only seem to have problems ON STEAM.. All of my games that are not on STEAM never give me any problems.. I have several computers setup in my home network and some of them I have put "same games" on to prove my point.. Steam dependant version of the game CONSTANTLY have problems where the NON-STEAM versions hardly ever have problems and when they do it is a simple fix and takes no more than a few seconds to a few minutes to fix and not one time has any fix for a NON-STEAM dependant game caused me to loose any of my savegames.

SO. Clearly there is an inherent problem with running games on STEAM. Something that they torted was NOT going to be the case with the advent of STEAM and running our games under it so they can be kept up to date and running properly.. Simple bull crap... That's what it all was!

OH.. And YES! The game is still lauching and running right for me since I did the fix the HARD WAY as I called it. It took a full on "Clean Installation" to fix the issue. I had to remove ALL of the game files from my computer and ALL referances for the game from my applications folder and my registry and restart my computer before I reinstalled it. But that apparently got rid of whatever file was corrupted by this latest update that crashed the game device settings.

After completing the game once and allowing it to update itself I had the same error!!!
But now it changed into a different one: "Steam client is not running" Despite the fact that I actually launched it from Steam.
Verified integrity - everything is OK. Fails with the same error. First it tells me that Steam client is not running, then crashes.
Damn you, SEGA, how could you turn such a good game into ♥♥♥♥ by completely failing to do a proper PC port?

Try deleting stea_client.dll

Solved already by a simple PC reboot, thanks. Something got broken after these updates. Game now works again, but mouse acceleration and unflexible button bindings continue to irritate. Not a bid deal anyway. Just have to quit the game every time I want to tweak mouse sensitivity :( And then kill configurator through task manager, since it never quits properly.
