Question about the plot (end-game spoilers)
Is it bad writing or an extremely bold social satire meant to show how awful xenophobia (racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.) and social injustice are?

1. The US President being a Republican and a Christian orders basically genocide (skipping the wall-building part) and the team's pretty cool with it (because "They aren't humans") until the very end;

2. The protagonist in his youth apparently was a domestic violence survivor, while unable to punish the criminal by laws or simply by beating him with a baseball bat, projects his aggression onto a robot (not sure, if it means a defensless person or an object in the given narrative);

3. An extereme level of segregation in the society shown, with only one companion even mentioning it;

4. The team turns a highly populated city (with civilains and stuff) into a battlefield, while still worrying more about the operation meant to be covert;

5. A companion, who has strong prejustice against international collegues and sexist attitude in general, might betray the protagonist (depends on the trust level).

Also there are a gender nonconforming character and a highly capable robot character (in the "Robots aren't people" type of narrative), thus the "social satire" option is more likely to be.

idk, I bought the game too, but i gave up, the controls were some of the worst I've ever used and the dialogue-omg. See, I was nice this time! I didnt even mention that the ♥♥♥♥ voice commands dont work at all even on a high end headset and 20 minutes fracking with the settings. I'm nice!

Eh not that far fetched of a story TBH but I prefer how Deus Ex handeled it with the human reactions to it. From religious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ screaming "dun touch gawds wurk!" to genuine concerns about it's usage being used for military rather then civilians use (to help people who lost an arm, leg, their vision or hearing)

Remember, they're not human to them it's upholding international law and snuffing out true artificial intelligence (as it is self aware and able to evolve)

Projecting it onto what he percieved an object until later when he start questioning himself and his views (hence the flashbacks replacing the bot with...first part of her name I can't spell Lee)

Eh honestly isn't that what you'd expect? They're not going to harp on about it if they grew up in said world knowing nothing can be done to change it

It's called comedic relief

But it's probably a lot of bad writing too

This I still don't know. I suspect writers actually are xenophobic. But regardless, I love the story.

The story can be interpreted any number of ways. It's not the 1st and it won't be the last sci fi tale that portrays robots or mechanical creatures as monsters.
That just makes the story interesting and worth playing as a video game where one gets to do some shooting and killing.
But instead of zombies or enemy soldiers they just happen to be in this case some robotic creatures.
You are viewing the story from a social justice perspective instead of Asimov-like one. There are five points here 1) the US was all about keeping the monopoly on robot industry and that's why they ruined the Japanese developer, 2) he creates the hollow children out of his own selfish needs to get back at the west and therefore ruining the status quo that west protects, but 3) they ARE living beings but new kind of beings, and knowing governments all they know is to destory the uknown, partly from fear of these new beings and partly as a excuse to finally get rid of the ♥♥♥ developer and protect their financial foothold in the world so now 4) enter the UN backed team of operatives who are there just to incrimate and eliminate the ♥♥♥ developer under the guise of him commiting acts of terror against the west(with the hollow children) but in reality (and unbeknowst to the operatives) to cover the asses of the US company and keep them a sole developers of robots.They don't care about colateral or anything else but the mission (like most soldiers) that's why they threat Japan as a battlefield. 5) But the operatives are humans and they need to learn (through their rampage) that hollow children are living beings and that protecting lives is more important than following orders or upholding the interational laws for the sake of giant corporations. That's why the character of Dan is great, because he is a typical American action hero guy, with quips and one liners but deep down he hates robots with passion (in a way he is a typical racist average Joe) and when he falls for a half-robot chick he needs to make a twofold choice - a personal one and a civilisational one. The first one advances him as a person and a second one advances the entire civilisation.

Do you really think that there is some satire in the game with pregnant robots?
