Game does not save
Played to the end of sector 5 (I think) and quit the game. When I came back all my progress was gone! Is there a save option I missed or is this a bug?

Same here. Re-installed the game to see if that fixes the buggy statistics (which it didn't), started a new game and the progress was gone after I started the game again later. Started another new game and was able to continue that. But after completing this one there's no chapter selection in the menu.

Same thing just happened to me too. I just finished sector 5 as well. I have stopped after other sectors and been able to come back just fine. I do think it is idiotic not to have a save function in a game this far into the 21st century. I would like to finish the game but I really don't feel like doing the same puzzles over again. Very poor design, I would love to see a fix for this though.

A thought occures. Do you both play in windowed mode? I had a problem with other game where the save files would not sync with steam if you closed via the window's close button.

No I play fullsreen. I waited until the little blue circle in the bottom right of the screen was done moving. Then I pressed esc and clicked end game or whatever. When I came back a few hours later, I had no "continue game" option.

Hi guys, sorry to hear about these issues, is this happening just to the full game? Do you also have the new DLC installed?
Cyborg Huey May 7, 2013 @ 2:40pm
I haven't bought the DLC yet, so just the original game for me.

I will check this out tomorrow, and upload an update. Judging by this post it seems to be a problem local to Sector 5.

For now you can edit the SaveGame.BIN file in WordPad here: STEAMDIR/qube/Binaries/Win32/

The numbers in quotations signifies the sector number. Once opened in WordPad where it says "Count":7, "0": 0, "1": 0, "2": 0... etc
set to :
"Count":7, "0": 1, "1": 1, "2": 1... etc.

That's cool but I have searched and searched and cannot find a folder for qube, at all, so I can't make the changes. I guess I'll have to wait for the patch.

-Steam Folder -> SteamApps -> Common -> QUBE -> Binaries -> Win32 -> SaveGame.BIN

-I don't have a SaveGame.BIN though. =O

Thanks. I managed to find that and my SaveGame.bin. But once I opened it with WordPad I only had two lines of text.

 ÿÿÿÿ JSONData
StrProperty None

That plus a bunch of squares that wouldn't copy over.

What's really weird too is that originally my computer wanted to open the SaveGame.bin with VLC for some reason.

Hi, I played through this game and really, really liked it. But I had to do it in one sitting due to the fear of my game not saving. And after finishing the game and reloading, sure enough my progress was only partially saved up to sector 3-4 or so. I'd like to support this game over the long-term with its DLC but I am concerned about this savegame problem.

I came here to ask if the DLC and/or concurrent patches resolves this savegame issue? My playthrough was on February 8th of this year, version 1.2 of the game. Seriously, I had a great time with it but I considered it a one-shot playthrough due to the unreliability of its save feature. I'd reinstall it for long-term if there's been progress made on this front.

I have just posted an update to fix the save game problem. Let me know if you have any more issues.

That sounds like great news, I'll pick up the DLC right now.

Excellent. Saving and chapter selection work again now, stats seem to be fixed, too. Just achieved Over Time (finally).
