[Mac] Cursor banished to the four edges of the screen

Today, every time I open the game, sometime in the following thirty seconds the game freezes for a second or two, and this is what heralds the blue cursor's decision to hug the egde of my screen. This makes the game unplayable. It's entirely within the game, too, as hitting shift+tab reveals that the mouse itself is working perfectly fine.

The only thing I can think of that may have had anything to do with it is that I believe I updated my Mac at some point yesterday, and I may have experienced the issue afterwards that day as well, however my recollection of the latter event is not very clear.

In any case, I'm going to try playing the Director's Cut and hope that works, perhaps I can catch up to where I was before.
