Help - call button
I had the same problem some other people here did of being stuck control-wise in level one. Well I reconfigured the controls & figured out which one is the blue "call" button that is supposed to make Tails pick up Sonic and fly him around, but it doesn't seem to work. It just makes him jump. I've tried having Sonic jump and then pressing it but that doesn't do it either. I know it is one of two possible buttons (why those chose to have two "blue" buttons I don't know) but neither does the trick. Any suggestions?

The Flight and Rolling power are disabled until you reach certain points in the first 3 levels (where you're required to use those modes to continue)

You'll know when you've unlocked it, because you'll see an electronic screen that shows how to trigger the powers. Such as Flight Mode, which requires Sonic to jump, then hit the Call button.

After you've reached both of those screens for the first time, then you can use all 3 Tails modes whenever you want.

Thank you. Somehow I'm at an area where I need to use the call button but haven't unlocked it yet. Never thought I'd be backtracking in a Sonic game!

You are using the "Call" button, not the team action button. You shouldn't have to backtrack unless something is wrong. In singleplayer, you really don't have much of a use for "Call" as it just bring Tails to you and doesn't initiate a team action. In Multiplayer, you do have a use because it brings the other player out of Team Lock and doesn't initiate a team action. The other player has a little auto-jump, as normal when coming out of team Lock mode.
