How does "Game Over" work?
If you lose all your lives what happens? Do you just lose your progress in the level and have to start that all over or do you lose your overall progress (levels, red stars, chaos emeralds)? Also does it work the same way in Episode 1 and 2?

You just lose all your 1-ups and get a game over. After that, you're given four 1-ups and you can continue from the level you got a game over in. Just not from the the latest sign post.
