Game Speed Too Fast
I bought this game a few months ago and just booted it up for the first time. Everything is in turbo-mode, several (4 or 5) ingame seconds pass for each second of real time, making the game unplayable.

Did I miss some obvious configuration option somewhere along the line?

Thanks in adavance.

To elaborate a little farther, I know that game time is not supposed to be 1:1, but a full minute passed ingame in about eight and a half seconds of real time, and with just the smallest press of a direction button, and Sonic goes warp speed until reaching the closest wall or obstacle. Its not just ingame, the opening video and splash screens are gone in a blink of an eye, and the cursor in the settings menu blinks at a frantic rate.

Turned VSync on, problem solved. 500 FPS did seem excessive in retrospect.

That's what you get for getting a sonic game.

Try setup 3D in your graphic card software (like Ati Catalist Control Center, Nvidia Control Panel or similiar program what you have) shift to hight quality and game will be playable at 60 fps when you move to perfomace this will run fasted too much as you pc can. i tried this and boosted with this some games more than 60 fps (this should be good for games wheres is much fps important! (e.t.c. Counter Strike)

Can you tell me how you turned on vsync? I cannot find the option and this issue just started after playing for awhile.

You have to force the graphics card to VSync for that game in particular, which is done through your graphics card settings. Where that is and how you do it will depend on what card you have. Google will be able to give you more specific info.

Good luck.

Have the same problem. Turned on VSync, but it have no effect. =( What to do?

Install Java, it fixed the problem for me. Maybe it's because it's an older game, and it can't handle the newer software very well, so it tries process it all, but ends up failing.

Can't speak to your specific situation, but for my nvidia card I right click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel and in "3D Settings" on the top left, I choose "Manage 3D Settings".

Pick the "Program Settings" tab, and in the "Select a program to customize" area pick the game you want to change (you may have to add manually). Finally, in the "Specify the settings for this program" area, move towards the bottom (it is sorted alphabetically) and select "Vertical Sync". You can turn it on here, and don't forget to apply.

For an AMD card, there might be some small changes but the idea is gonna be the same.

I'm having the same issue here. My main monitor is a super ultra-wide 144hz. When I try to run the game on the monitor, it's insanely fast. I put it into fullscreen and it fixes the speed issue, but the game looks insanely distorted being that wide. I try to switch it to full screen on any of my other three monitors, and it still just pulls up on my main (ultra-wide) monitor. Game is completely broken unless I unplug every monitor except a normal 16:9 one. Really sucks.

For anyone still having this issue. There is also a setting in your GPU's 3D settings that will limit the frame rate. You need to limit this game to 58-60 maximum. Sometimes V-Sync will fix that issue, but limiting the frame rate directly works 100% of the time. The game speeds up to about 2x speed when your PC is too good.

Makes sense. When I first posted this years ago I had a normal 60 Hz monitor, thus vsync was good enough. If the game engine is tied to the frame rate as it seems, anyone with a 120 Hz or higher monitor would see a doubling (or higher) of game speed. Thanks for the update.
