I noticed that in regular quests there are no references to a specific deity. So probably it is not a good idea to fail those quests.
On the other hand, there are quests which declining (or failing to accomplish it) results in a penalty like "x minus points in your relationship with the gods". In this case, the penalty is applied to an specific deity or to all of them? If it's related only to one of the deities, can I see who is it beforehand?
Another thought: I'm under the impression that worsening your relationship with a deity will improve your relationship with the deity that is in the oposite position in that circular deities chart, and vice-versa. Is it right? If it is correct, one can conclude that there is no way to lose relationship points with all deities at once. Is it the same idea behind your indication of constructing a temple to a deity to lower your relationship to the opposite deity faction?
Thanks,
Yes, if you look at the deities relationship wheel, you'll notice that moving towards one deity moves you away from the opposing one. In fact, every move you make on that wheel will make some deities like you more, and some less.
If you are careful when you get requests from deities, you'll notice up in the title for the event it will say "request from XXXX" where XXXX is the deity asking you to do something. When that happens, accept it, and then go to your relationship screen to see if completing it is beneficial, which will depend on if you want that god to like you or not. If you decide you don't want to do the quest, you can just let it expire, although it can be necessary to go back in and reject it, especially if the quest is "kill the heretic". You're probably going to have to kill it anyways, so you need to reject the quest first to get the outcome you want.
I played it yesterday all day long, and came to notice that on deities quests theres is, in fact, a little icon in the quest itself indicating the deity responsable for it.
I even got a quest of the kind "kill the infidels" and didn't know how to act because I didn't want to fulfill the quest but coudn't allow the guys to destroy my cities. Thanks for the hint.
I would suggest moving your armies near your capital and waiting. It will show up eventually.
