Best Race for a new player??
Hiya,

I am not asking for a 'I WIN' race, i am just asking which race has it easiest.

All of the races are rather easy to pick up and play. Humans are pretty straightforward though, perhaps you could try them.
Something to keep in mind:
  • Humans = Extra Gold
  • Monsters = Extra Food
  • Skeletons = Extra Mana
  • Elves(DLC) = Extra Research

i tried the humans and their rogues were dying left and right and most of the time i ended up facing undead, making half of their damage stats useless.

I have read on here, that everyone suggests if you play human stick to mages.

Rogues die easily, I just use them if I want something disposable that uses only gold. I haven't had any problems using basically any units I felt like against normal difficulty ai. Mages are good but they need to be protected by a disposable unit, perhaps a meatshield melee.

This is so different to Civ 5, on civ, you use ranged in the early game and siege in the mid and late game and have melee protecting them since they are weak against melee attacks, but in this game, some units are just weak, i think the easily killed should be able to do significantly more damage to compensate for their easy to kill status.

You might try monsters or undead if humans aren't tough enough. Undead basic units take less missile damage and ignore death damage, but need a different (more expensive and longer casting) spell to heal their units. Monster basic units are tougher in melee. Buildings that give your troops bonuses are good, too. If you build a smithy, every (eligible) unit you build after it's completed will get an armor bonus and you can spend gold to buy the armor bonus for existing units.

I could try the monsters then, though i have been playing the Horizon Alpha, always had a weakness for 4X games.

Undead are strong against range and death, so archers and rogues are pretty bad against them. A good attack for humans against undead is warriors up front and healers behind, as undead are weak to life magic.

what about the armageddon mode, whats good against those buggers?

For the most part the Dremer are weakest to Spirit, Death and Elemental damage, in that order.

Personally, I LOVE the Monster race. They have the best units IMO

Any race is good.. kinda depends on what units you like to click on since the end game is pretty much the same, regardless of race (at least it is for me).

I like monster race because the archers are really funny. And I like regen units.

Also! If you want to play multiplayer, let me know :D

turn based and multiplayer do not work well together and besides, i used to love playing against players on star trek armada before it turned to rush to win, then the fun just went away.

I would say monsters. They have cheap units up front and mostly use food (leaving coin for upgrades and mana for spells). Early units default has thick hide, a nice bonus. Although once you capture an undead city, use those settlers for citys that specialize in mana production. And each city should have a primary purpose; unit, gold, food, or mana production. Specializing is what gets you the big numbers.

Oh and keep a look out for Mino Caves, Elf Villages, Dwarven Villages, and Donkeys for Stubborn Knights. All great units to have and are not race dependent.
