should I just Dump all my units?????
I don't know if I should discard all my Viking units for the new human races I just found on the second Island or not.. Ive been playing with my Vikings but the second Island has no snow or cold weather terrain, so I thought about discarding them, but if I do that then I won't be able to get them back. I wish there was a way to sell units and then buy them back. What do you folks think I should do?? Can I get Viking units anywhere in the game at a later time or not? And what races or best to use during certain islands or scenarios???

Well instead of discarding you can simply deposit them in castle garrisons until much later. each garrison holds 3 units and there are several castles you can leave them in. Viking race units are quite rare until considerably later in the game too.

Thanks for response... I didn't know that I can garrison troops in castles. I'll Try that. But I think I'm just going to go as far as I can with my Vikings until I get stuck with the difficulty or I just run out of troops. And then my next game I might just try a Human run or something...

I recommend attacking one or two "very strong" or "deadly" enemies to use up your older troops. Then, when they are down to a bare bones outfit, either dismiss them or garrison them.

However, you will find plenty of Vikings on your first four islands. It's not until you get to Greenwort that you can't recruit them anymore.

I thought about doing just that actually...just keep attacking until I kill off all of my Vikings. But yesterday I just garrisoned 2 units at a castle (Axe Throwers and Slingers) because I just found and bought a Jotun and a Troll. They soak up a lot of damage as a Tank. The only thing I don't like about have these two units in battle with the rest of my Vikings, is that my morale is normal and not high like it usually is with a full group of Vikings.

To be honest, i found that human armies still get the job done done better than every other racial armies. The racial trait makes them tough on all terrains (once you've fought a bit on all of them, and well, you probably will). They have 2 extremely effective units for undead killing purposes, have 3 revive options (if you include rune mages, you can duplicate either paladins or inquisitors for extra rage/turns/revive). Add to that the fact that you can respec your army from ranged attrition (High Mage/Rune Mage/Inquisitor/Archer/Paladin) to higher aggressive all out brawl by swapping high mages and archers for horsemen and knights and you have a WINNER.
Admitedly though, that can get boring pretty fast. The questions here is probably not so much "should i dump X racial army for Y racial army", but rather "which racial army best suits my playstyle"?
As soon as you clear the viking islands, the game essentially lets you choose between humans , elves, and orcs. So yeah, just pick one and go with it. They all have their ups and downs, it's just that humans seem to have more ups, and less downs.
