You can buy those units from different places; Vikings at the Castle, bears and wolfs from a cottage where the snow is.
I am not sure what you mean with the horse quest - but I know you`ll figure it out with some patience. Ride around, talk to people, take the tutorial! :) ,check your inventory, the stores, - fight, - everything. Good luck :)

Early on make sure that you can always see what an opponent has available to them before you really get into the battle, knowing the enemy and knowing which spells to use if key as you get better you will start to defeat some major enemies without losing too many troops. Bottom line is to play as slow as you want to see, enjoy and learn the depth of this game. I find most professional reviews to be limited and not very thoughtful and I believe this is due to trying to get through your game as fast as possible...this is about the knights and darkness and much more and should be enjoyed like a warm summer day on the beach....relax and just let it flow...
That`s excactly the way you should play these games !!! :)))))
Thats pretty much how I played Armored Princess, and hell ya, you need to stop and smell the roses on every area you get into and you just get sucked into the lore and atmosphere, you actually forget your having fun.
