King's Bounty: Warriors of the North

King's Bounty: Warriors of the North

Ice and Fire
I just discovered that there is a DLC and for whatever reason, people in feedbacks are saying that I should have it while playing the main Warriors of the North game. I tried to Google it why and couldn't find anything.

So, the question is, does this DLC add something crucial/interesting to the main game? Or is it just literally only this extra island that I can visit?

It's the dlc to the main game. If you want to play a game on the dlc you will need to start a brand new save file because the game does not "transfer" your file to the dlc version.

As for why you want it is up to you. Yes it will add new units, a whole new map to explore which also includes new quests, new items, a new "rank" mechanic, blah blah blah, typical dlc stuff, but none of which is required for enjoyment. If it's any consolation, the extra stuff adds about 10 to 20 hours of content, which for the most part was unnecessary because the main content was long enough. In addition to all that comes with bugs and crashes. FYI, most of the new ice units are just average and you don't get to use them until middle of the game. The dead lizardmen could prove useful but only if you know how to use them.

Should you play it? I guess... if you really want the extra content. The main game without the dlc is a bit easier because you get your wings extremely early. The dlc postponed getting your wings until very late in the game and that is the reason why you can't transfer your save file over.

And as you can tell, my opinion of this dlc is meh because I came into disappointment with the main game itself with or without dlc and so the dlc only made it worse.
The rage skills were a big disappointment and the enemy army composition AND unit amount even on impossible difficulty were a joke. Many were bland unit compositions and they were too small that even a mage without having to use magic could take them out easily without loses. The bosses are a big disappointment, some liked the final battle, i thought it was one of the worse and weakest in the series and a total joke just like the previous boss fight before the final. Anyway, end rant, that's my opinion, judge for yourself.

I personally love it with the DLCs, more than without. Like Sigma says, it adds a lot of new stuff to the main game, but unlike him I loved this game. The one thing I could have done without , was too much backtracking , but it did not at all ruin it for me.
My verdict - Vanilla game ; 7 out of 10.
With the DLC - 8 out of 10.
But yes, you have to start over with it.
