Some random questions.
Picked up the game, after having left in on the shelf for a long time.
The game is actually better than I remembered, but there are some issues I can't figure out.



Rage skills:

Chista's gift: Level 3 creatures seem to ignore this skill even though it is upgraded to include level 3 creatures.
I wonder if I continue upgrading it to even higher levels, will creatures abov level 2 still ignore it?

Increased control: Normally increased control decrease usage rage and also decreases rest time by one (say 3 to 2) but sometimes I get a negative number (say rest 5 turns to negative 5 (from rest 5 to rest -5) ... Exactly what does this mean?





Also,

I'm also wondering what is the odds of scoring a critical his using a spell or using the rage skill?
I know there are skills on the skill-tree that gives a certain percentage for doing this, but it appears they are not needed - you can still score a critical hit with spells and rage skills.

Does spells and rage-skills have a base value of scoring a critical hit that always applies?

been years since i played it so cant remember about rage skills, but about spells i dont recall them doing crits. maybe your confusing that because the enemy has weakness to the element or something? like using fire spells against plants

I'm not.
Even secondary-damaging skills/spells (like damage from Avenging Angel or prolonged poisoning) may score a critical hit at any point. Not to mention basic magic like "magic missile" or "fire arrow". Happens constantly, so I can only assume there is a base value for theese.

(spells always score critical hits if the enemy is under the influence of the spell that cause every physical hit to be critical ... don't remember its name ... but that's not the issue, the issue is that spells can score critical hits nontheless)

The critical hit -issue is actually of a very low concern. If it happens, then it happens... I'm frankly starting to get more worried regarding Christas gift right now..

I believe christa's gift is a bug IF you have the fire and ice dlc installed. I can't vouch for the proof but from my experience, christa's gift kinda stops working on enemies beyond level 2 even if you upgrade it to enemies 3 and up. I just cannot get the damn thing to work properly. The only other time it does work is against those ghost pirates but that's only because they have the talent that forces them to pick up gold.

I saw a stream on twitch where a guy was playing this game without the fire and ice dlc and christa's gift works perfectly, no bugs. So... um there's your answer.

I would avoid upgrading Christa anyway. You can only level the rage amulet to 60, and it's only enough to max 7 skills out of 9. Christa's skill is pretty weak compared to others, and doesn't need any upgrades to be effective as an obstacle.

It's easy to mod the data file to increase the cap, but unless you play as warrior you'll still have hard time getting enough XP for the amulet. Well, unless you mod that too, lol.


Increased control. There're two ways to reduce rest time - via Olaf's skill, which iirc doesn't affect valkyries' rage abilities, and via direct upgrades of the skills themselves. The latter, I think, does say "rest -X" when you select it, meaning rest time reduction.


Don't remember about criticals though.
