Seriously.... how do I fix this?
Okay, so I go out and buy BO2, and to my surprise, I can't play it. Why? My graphics card won't even come on while the game is running (I have a GTX 675m). How do I play a game with only 7-14 frames per second? The multiplayer won't even come up, either. It's just a black screen. Pretty much my CPU is killing itself trying to do EVERYTHING, which it shouldn't. How do I fix this? I really don't want to have wasted money and space on something I can't even enjoy or use.

Buying a laptop to play games is like buying a ford tempo to go drag racing...You may finish the race, but you are not going to look good doing it and are always going to come in last.

Generally for Nvidia users and laptop ones in particular they NEED to

Update to 310.54 beta

Lock the GPU to the Nvidia one in the Nvidia Control Panel.
On 3D Settings select Manage 3D settings.
Click on Global Settings, change the Preferred graphics processor to High-Performance Nvidia processor.

You can do it globally or on a per-exe basis.

Again this addresses 'most' users problems with Nvidia mobile chipsets.

My game wouldn't even get to the main menu at first. But I tried this.
I did it globally, and now the game runs for me. It still launched in the 800x600 res the first time but now multiplayer and zombies are working. Have not tried campaign. Hopefully it stays working..

The resolution issue should be resolved by doing teh 'fullscreen windowed mode' in the settings, quitting then er-running the game.

Actually, many laptops are comparable with desktops. The only thing that could beat my laptop is if you have a graphics card higher (which there is only one from my understanding), or if you have more than one GPU.

Currently the only thing I'm sweating is if I can run Crysis 3 on maxed settings. Yep, your logic fails, bro.

Laptops are in no way comparable to desktops in terms of price/performance ratio. You're paying A LOT of money to get something even remotely close to even a junky low end video card. Plus you're then stuck with that technology forever. While even the most horrible desktop computer can still throw in a GTX690 if they really want to, or even do very modest $100-$200 upgrades in the future.

I never recommend gaming laptops unless you ABSOLUTELY need the portability, but in that case just get a mid-range laptop and game on a desktop instead. It's not really worth the money or the hassle of dealing with Optimus or other odd laptop GPU technologies that sort of kind of maybe work not really. Plus a midrange laptop + desktop can easilly cost less than a gaming laptop anyway.

Well to each his own, I suppose. I feel as though my laptop (and several others if you play your cards right) is better than most desktops. Not the super hardcore desktops that are all out. But anything with more than 16 GB of RAM, a GPU better than GTX 675M and a CPU better than i7-3610QM. I believe that this would probably link me with average ground with most desktops and better than most of the competition unless there is a really devoted system out there.

You're not necessarily stuck with your hardware, you can upgrade. Unless you're trying to game on a Mac, which I highly doubt any of us try to do (no offense if you do though). But there are certain things that hit you (like my problem with CoD: BO2, but that's why there are drivers, right? Haha, anyway, the only thing I can't run on max settings (so it seems) is going to be Crysis 3, and that's because I don't have a GTX 680, so I'll probably have to stick with regular or slightly higher graphical changes. Alas, the Optimus technology can be bothersome sometimes, you CAN change the settings on your GPU for the standard settings for a game, or make it dedicated (at the cost of it using more power which can easily be remedied by having it plugged in to a power source). I may not be able to have two GPU's, but more oft than not, I have more power than many desktops that have on GPU.

Gaming laptops aren't to be taken lightly. The amount of money that can go into a good one, is comparible to that of the money that can go into a good desktop, and sometimes much less depending on whether or not you build it yourself, of course.
