I'm so happy I've pirated the old COD games they don't even work on Steam I had the same problem and decided to get a refund and pirated them and guess what the pirate version works just fine and even better than the Steam version...

This game was working just a few days ago, this is a recent issue I've been having too. I've tried almost every guide involving repairing/installing directx, running it as administrator, just about EVERYTHING.

update: i ♥♥♥♥ you not the solution is to go into the game files and set the .exe files compatibility to windows xp service pack 2. somehow this fixed it for me
