Game doesn't start, exe stuck in task manager
Happening in SP, MP and zombie modes
When I try to start the game nothing happens, I can see the exe listed in taskmanager but the game won't open.
I have to kill the process manually.

CPU occupation and memory used stay fixed.

Every game in my steam library is working properly, except BO2.

Windows 8.1, GTX770 335.23, intel 4770K, 16GB RAM
This is my dxdiag log http://pastebin.com/AG4kv7Ch

What I have already tried:

- verified all the files infinite times
- uninstalled and downloaded the entire game from scratch twice
- deleted steam appcache directory
- used the steam:/fushconfig command
- tested previous nvidia drivers
- disabled the cpu's integrated gpu
- windows clean boot (no antivirus and minimal softwares running)
- switched to steam beta back and forth

EDIT:

- disabling steam overlay doesn't help
- tested forceware 332.21, 334.89 and 335.23 (clean installs)
- I have already done a couple of registry cleanings with ccleaner, between driver changes and trying to remove/reinstall visual c++ 2010 (vcredist)
- compatibility flags have no effect
- tried launching steam client and t6sp.exe as administrator

Hope you don't mind me adding on to your thread but I am also having issues with the game as well. It was working great on Nivida driver 334.89 but once I updated to driver 335.23 the game starts and goes blank just like skryabin's problem. Tried going back to the old driver and it won't work anymore.

Man, the only thing is that I can help you update your graphics card :/

Try turning the steam overlay off.

View > settings > in-game > uncheck box.

For the game its.

Games library > Blops2 > Right click > Properties > General tab > Uncheck box.
Repeat for Mp and Zombies.

Try the game.

Did you roll back to the previous driver?

Are you using the lastest Nvidia driver?

overlay disabled doesn't fix
tested with 332.21, 334.89 and 335.23, no changes, no error messages, BO2 simply dosn't start at all, the process remains stuck in task manager as described in the OP

Did you completely remove the Nvidia driver before installing the new 1?

I check the box "clean install" at every driver change.

Try this.

Download and install CCleaner by Piriform (its free).
Download The Nvidia Driver 334.89.

Remove all the Nvidia drivers using the Add/Remove in the control panel .

Restart.

Run CCleaner including the registry clean.

Install the Nvidia Driver 334.89.

Try the game.

I have already done a couple of registry cleanings with ccleaner, between driver changes and trying to remove/reinstall visual c++ 2010 (vcredist)
No luck with that too :(

I have looked at my c++ list and I have C++2012 listed.
If you haven't got them you might need to download them.

I think BO2 needs the 2010 one, looking at my list I have installed 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2012

Have you tried running the game as Administrator?

Of course, along with the entire steam client launched as administrator.

The other compatibility flags (for win7, win8, vista, ecc) have no effect

Its strange that it was working for you before.

Sorry, I'm all out of ideas.
