Try verifying your game cache.

Verify your Game Cache:

1. Right Click on the game in your steam library
2. Click on Properties
3. Go to the Local Data tab
4. Click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache
5. Once the verify is complete run the game.

Same happened to me today. Deleted data (uninstalled) through steam then steam reinstalled and all is fine now.

Tried this repeatedly, NOT WORKING! Seems to have struck a bunch of people after a game update. Guess I'll just twiddle my thumbs tonight.

I did it both with Single and Multi and then it works.

I've done it with all three, IT DOESNT WORK! HELP? My task manager says the game is running, but nothing shows up on the screen. There's no icon in the task tray. What did they do to us? Reinstalling doesn't seem to help either.

Okay, so despite rebooting my computer CODBO2 persisted in my task manager. I went in and manually closed the 6 instances of the game running and viola! It opens and runs fine. Don't ask me, I just work here

This may be a separate issue, but STEAM updates today installed, then when launching COD BO2, BLACK SCREEN (PC, Multiplayer only, Campaign works fine).. errors, "Com_Error called within a task success/failure callback"

Had the same problem, verified game cache and it turns out I had 510 files which could not be validated and they're being reaquired lol. Wtf happened yesterday.

Have the same issue as all of you (Unhandled exception caught) when I tried to play Zombies and Multiplayer, but campaign works fine. Tried verifying integrity of the cache on Zombies and everything looked fine so I tried to play it. Keep getting this error:

The Steam servers are too busy to handle your request for Call of Duty Black Ops II Zombies. Error Code (53).

I also tried completely unistalling Zombies and still am getting this error; I just tried verifying Multiplayer and get this same error code as well.

I visted the Steam Support page and error code 53 under incomplete installation refers to "IOLO System Mechanic Professional and F-Prot Antivirus" interfering with Steam. I have no idea what this means. Any help or suggestions? :grab:
