HOW TO FIX BLACK OPS 2 NOT LAUNCHING ON STEAM
Find where your steam.exe is located and right click and choose properties. Enable compatibility mode for Windows Vista, do not turn on Administrator. Launch it once and it should work, you only need to do this the first time. You can turn steam back to normal after you've done this. I struggled to find an answer but I figured I'd post this to help people!

Oh also on one of the campaign missions it crashed at the end I had to set the game exe itself to Windows 7 so that can also be a fix probably

So everytime I try to launch BO2, its now giving me a unhandled error message, i have a decent pc to run the game, im wondering though why this is happening.

if you get that error you need to run the game exe itself in windows 7 compatibility mode

Did nothing for me, but launching the game directly from its exe file in the folder worked to get it running the first time after installing, and then it launched fine from steam every time thereafter.

Verity files on Steam. Once files are verified and you see the "updating executable" message, just keep trying to launch until it finally does and it will launch just fine from then on.

Others have done many other things that say fixed it. I think it's just that it finally works at some point. I have not had to make any settings change or install any mod. The same is true for MW2 and MW3, which have also had launch issues.

In fact, this has worked for me for three different CoD apps, twice -- the second time was after I moved them to a new partition. It worked all six times.

No compatibility mode or mod or any other setting change is necessary.
