Is the monk's physical damage increase working as intended?
I am not that far into the game, however, I have Elan as a monk at 35 strength currently, with 37 PAB from class shown on the character screen. Where and how do the monk's 1.5 PAB per Strength come in? Or how is the monk passive supposed to work?
As it is, my knight does more damage with ~half the strength...

Looks like it's a bug @GreenGuy

The Monk class passive skill is currently giving 25% more PAB, not 50% more like the tooltip indicates.

I wonder if it's actually a bug with the tool tip since there's a Monk skill that gives an additional 75% STR to PAB (which rounds out to a nice clean 100% bonus STR to PAB).

As an aside, Knight is pretty much always going to do more raw damage than a Monk due to a good portion of your PAB coming from equipment (and Knight has better scaling abilities) & the inherent physical penetration in the Knight class.

That said, monks can get 2 AP cost on all their attacks, which means you get a lot more attacks in when you use haste or burn some BP. Plus True Damage that can't be resisted.

If you can keep your MP up I think Monk is more effective than Knight against single targets. Of course, Dragon Knight is a whole different kettle of fish. Plus knights have a great camp skill, and better AoE attacks until very late game.

That unfortunately only matters in the early/mid game. Ferdinand gives access to 2AP attacks, and eventually you don't even need that since you'll have Multistrike. Similar thing with the true damage, except early-mid game you get covered by the inherent 20 physical penetration and later on you have access to Rend Armor.

Probably just a tooltip bug. Back in EA base bonus was 0% and the extra skill gave 100%. I reported that it made monks too weak early game mostly due to missing gear as well and GG smartly changed it to 25+75 to ease early game for monks.

It's a tooltip bug. The text is from an old version of the skill. The bonus increases by 25%. I'll fix that.
Well, thanks for all the answers. That's a bit sad, it seemed like monk would just go bonkers with 3 points of strength gain per level. ;)
