The Talking Sword???
I'm on my second play through and I haven't found the event yet where I can get the talking sword (past day 80 now). From what I recall, it was an event on a forest map the first time, but does anyone know which forest level map or maps to try? Or, do I just have to randomly do them until it shows up?

I think its random, I only got it in one of four play throughs, I've gotten it as actually the very first event I ran into on the forest map. So I am not sure if difficulty is a factor in your case so much as just being really unlucky with RNG

Wow, I just got lucky, and got it on a 2-star Forest Quest, yeah!!!

I just started a new game, and also got it immediately again in a 2 star forest, I think it might be a low star exclusive event? or that its much easier to trigger said event at lower levels. It's hard to tell because RNG is RNG. I couldn't say anything definitively without a much larger sample size

What happens if you accidentally sell the sword? Does the event reappear later?

lol, dont think so... sad face, Ferdinand is awesome.
Can you only get it early? What day did you find it? I had it in my first playtroughs but now im day 25 and have done like 12 two star forest missions....no luck

It's luck based. But i think you have to guild rank 2 at least. Game does not like to give you op weapons too early.
might have to be the big florets map, 3 stars or higher.

If you help the priest you randomly find in dungeons 3 or 4 times, he will reward you an epic Sword and Shield, but he wont "give it to you" until you reach the epic gear stages. Right after you imprison the Witch

Ferdinand is actually naturally balanced by the upgrade process.

His starting stats are comparable to what you can otherwise craft/find early on, and every upgrade requires increasingly high-level materials (which only drop on higher level quests that require higher guild levels), meaning he'll always be good but not completely overpowered (well, until the final tier version, but by that point you're already in the end game and deserve a nifty reward for completing the quest line and beating the hardest boss in the game).

He is originally a lvl blue gear. So before you can craft blue gear yourself, i don't think he shows up. i might be wrong
No, its green when you first get it

oh yeah, sorry, you have to be able to craft green weapons :)
After like 10 restarts and watching youtube im quite sure that you only get the sword on a One-Star forest mission. I restarted again now and got it on Day 3.

You absolutely can get it on higher star quests. I've done it (I had one game where he showed up in a random quest shortly before I beat the final boss). It's all a matter of luck.

But it does have to be in a forest.

One possible explanation may be that there are fewer options for random events early on (as you can't have encounters with, for instance, cultists before they are introduced in the main story), so it's likely to happen in an early quest.

But worst comes to worst, you can always just keep doing forest quests until you get it. The forest generally has the best events anyway. Just make sure you bring an adventurer with the Kind trait along (preferably Elan) so you can get the best result from the wolf pup event.

But you can craft green weapons as soon as you unlock the blacksmith (which is one of the first things that happens).
Btw, has the Dragon egg also a specific location where it drops?
