Grey screen on steam deck

Has anyone else been randomly getting a grey screen when they boot up the game? I started the demo yesterday and fell in love with the game, so I bought the full version a little bit ago. Now when I boot it up everything is grey, I don’t get a single bit of color on-screen. I booted up the demo to see and now that one is nothing but grey in game as well. I hadn’t messed with anything and no Proton settings/versions seem to fix this particular issue.

When I close the game there’s a second of color before it fully exits but nothing more. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as the game’s colors look great in my opinion so I’d love to have them again!

Are other games also in grey? I personally don't have a steam deck, so I don't know if there are color saturation settings which could have caused that.

Thanks so much for the response, dev! No other games I have are in grey, nor is any of the UI of the Steam Deck grey, even while in-game. It’s just funny because the colors were fine in the demo the other day up until I bought/installed the full version. That has been grey since I first installed it no matter what I do and seems to have caused the demo to be grey no matter what as well, now. Hm, quite the interesting pickle.

Maybe fully uninstalling and re-installing might help.

That’s not a bad idea! Also, I decided to try playing it in desktop mode and the colors come through just fine playing it that way, oddly enough. Still no luck in gaming mode, though. If I find a solution I’ll comment with it so that you’re able to know in case it happens to someone else! I think it’s wonderful you reply to posts on the forum here, it’s one of the reasons I bought your game. I’m happy to support you :)

Update: Just tried in gaming mode again and there’s not even a cursor that pops up now, so I’m not able to play in that mode even if I tried. At least before I could because there was a cursor, even if I had to look past the all-grey image. Uninstalling and reinstalling didn’t help at all :(

Reporting back to say that the issue was resolved by setting “HDR Debug Visualization” to “none”. I had turned it on and hadn’t thought to turn it off. It ended up turning all games grey but setting it back to “none” fixed the issue for all of them. My games are now in color! Just wanted to give an update in case anyone else ever has this particular issue in the future with their Steam Deck OLED. Thanks for the replies though, TheGreenGuy!
