thank you for the info, I totally missed that. Unfortunately, this option doesn't seem activable for a running game, at least I can't activate it.
edit: OK, I found it, I had to set the difficulty to custom first.
Generally, imho, it would lead to a better gameplay, if the character generation were a bit controlled, so that there is a bit of control over how traits and stars are distributed. Currently, most of the times the random distribution makes liitle sense. Better would be to have a lower supply of adventurers but those available would be ones the player would actually recruit, quality over quantity so to say. I don't know how that scout function works, but I do like the idea to have the game generate random characters for the player to select, I don't want to exactly design them. I do like some degree of randomness, but none which is totally out of control and results in a mess most of the times.
edit: for the dev.
If possible, please, add a button on the character design screen for the scout function to reroll the character, so that instead of exactly designing her you actually get some random character. The player selects the class, and lets the game generate a random character of that class. Maybe you could still edit the result if you want more control.
Maybe the cost of scouting could be related to the quality of the generated character, so to have a higher quality character (better distribution of traits/stars) you would have to pay more. So a more controlled randomness would be achieved.
When you allow scouted characters, you can assemble some really effective trait combos. They do not come CLOSE to the awesomeness that a random character can stumble into, but they are guaranteed.
But, in my opinion, there is no point in doing another run with scouted characters. Once you know what works, they become cookie cutter.
That's why I don't want to design my characters, I would end up producing clones which reflect an ideal class build. The problem is imho that the randomized character generation results in a mess in 99% of the cases. There should be some middle ground between the 2 extremes. That's the only aspect of the game I think needs some improvement. It's extremely frustrating to have a new week and see what mess of adventures the game makes available.
Apropos improvements or more like an expansion, or even a sequel to this amazing game: Imho it would be great if there were an overworld map in the game, like in battle Brothers, even better organized in regions like in Phantom Doctrine to which you can assign parties which are responsible for whatever happens there. This would fit the multi parties feature and make it meaningful gameplay-wise.
