Where exactly does the black screen happen? Do you get to see the controller recommendation?
Also, there is safe mode option at the bottom of the screen, if some file got corrupt for some reason, try clicking that and it should get you through as it will default back to default settings.
I just bought the game and get the same issue, using safe mode doesn't help either.
It shows the controller recommendation and then that fades out, after a couple seconds music starts but the entire game just remains black with the alpha 2.8 www.terapoly.com at the bottom.
I could first play, and the next day, the game starts I see the logo, and then comes the controller icon, after that I only hear music and the picture is black, when I minimize the game and move comes a freeze frame with a planet.
C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\LocalLow\Terapoly\Project Lazarus\settings.dat
and
C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\LocalLow\Terapoly\Project Lazarus\user.dat
Just back up user.dat as it contains your unlocks. Your OS could be locking it down for strange reasons, preventing it from giving access to the game.
Not sleeping today until I find out why this is happening.
It works when I delete both, but when I restore the user.dat it doesn't work, I think it's broken, I had been playing for a very long time, and then I didn't close the game properly, I just closed it to x, maybe that's why it broke.
You can sleep, I think we have found the solution, thank you I can play again but I have to start again with my progress.
Thanks for letting me know!
I've tried restarting, uninstalling and reinstalling, but it still doesn't work.
Windows 10, 64bit, 8GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 5500, Direct3D 11
I checked the AppData\LocalLow\Terapoly\Project Lazarus folder which only has 2 log files with the following content:
D3D shader create error for pixel shader [0x80070057]
D3D shader create error for vertex shader [0x887a0005]
ShaderProgram is unsupported, but because jobified rendering is enabled the ShaderProgram can not be removed.
UnityEngine.Rendering.HighDefinition.HDRenderPipeline:Render(ScriptableRenderContext, List`1)
UnityEngine.Rendering.RenderPipelineManager:DoRenderLoop_Internal(RenderPipelineAsset, IntPtr, List`1)
I don't have any HD5500 GPU to test this but from the looks of it, the GPU itself is not capable of running instruction sets of the game. It is definitely not supported as it is below "minimum requirements" but I think I can work something out in the next patches.
But, to be frank, I have to say that the performance, provided your GPU, won't be favorable.
So, to keep it simple, this is not a bug. But I will see what I can do :)
EDIT: I will address this in Alpha3, whether I will be able to, I am not sure at the moment.
