How to get to level 170?

I'm around 25 hours in and I've tried multiple different builds on every map available, and I can only almost reach level 149. Are there any recommendations for builds that'll help me level faster so I can finally get the achievement?

Yeah I only made it to 147. I have no idea how the 0.1% made it to 170.

I'm currently using Titus with 1 Gravity Retractor, 1 Damage, 1 Loader Belt, 1 Reactor, 1 AI Core, 1 Flamethrower, and I'm testing the Dreadnoughts to see what works best. 2 Siege Cannons worked amazingly, now I'm gonna try 2 Drones.

I died before I could even get to the final boss with two Drones, so I'm gonna go back to Siege Cannons after retesting Cosmic Guardians. They served me well in the past, so maybe it'll work again. I'm trying Striker as well.

I forgot about the 20% bonus to experience Arachmech gets, though I stopped using him because Titus has more expansion slots. Definitely gonna try this.

With Titus I've managed to get to level 163 only. I think you need to play arachmench if you want to hit 170.

I don't know how you even got that high with Titus, but I think you're right. Have you tested two Widowmaker Cannons instead of one? I'm running this build right now and it's definitely working, though comparing Thor and Widowmaker Cannon in my runs, Widowmaker definitely seems to deal more damage. That leads me to wonder if I could just rely on restocking my AP through level ups instead of Thor.

Survived for 80 minutes... Somehow the idea of running away from the boss for 50 minutes without killing it seems to go against the core of this genre of games.

I'm very curious, did you have to level up on almost purely blue crystals to get the last ~20 levels? If so, I applaud your determination and I'm trying to do the same.

Yes sadly this is bad part of this game but I did it only to test is it even possible to get that high level and gain achievement for it.

Most of them was blue - yes. Sometimes monsters dropped green ones but going further they dropped less and less. I'd say till minute 40/50 leveling is going quite ok but last ~30 minutes is really boring and on some point I tought that reaching that level won't be possible...

My brain would liquify in my skull before I made it to 170, if that's the way I have to do it. :D
