Go with either lasers (highest direct dmg option due to bounce but not as cool as missiles) or remote turrets (the strongest option I've found).
For the the rest, 1 gravity to get your loot, 1 crit chance, 1 rate of fire and 2 damage mods.
Fill all slots first as I've found removing the rng of stuff you don't want let's you build up far faster, having both evolutions by 7 minutes this way is kind of crazy, pickup range massively speeds up leveling also.
This let's you pretty much bunker down anywhere, out run anything you need to, destroy the blockers, in seconds while having the ability to clear thousands of mobs in 360 degrees passively.
I LOVE the minigun, but they just don't do anywhere near the clearing potential of the plasma.
This setup leaves you at 70% crit chance, 140% bonus dmg and 50% rof, which makes those turrets able to clear hordes without your help, the drones (well spectors) just obliterate anything they look at, while the widow cannon upgrade with rof can offer 1800 dmg semi directable aoe blasts.
No need for healing when nothing can get near you :)
The most successful loadout I've done with it is armed with 2x Siege Cannons, 2x Laser Blasters, Pulse Rifle and Shotgun. Then for the expansions, 2x Reactor, Damage, AI Core, and Gravity Retractor. You have to spin around a lot or keep moving since it's easy for stuff to sneak up behind it, but that build can easily obliterate whatever it looks at, including the blockers trying to trap you.
This makes Titus and Striker the best ones just because of that.
All other mechs feel crippled, because you have to sacrifice something.
Extra weapon slots just don't really feel like a good trade for speed or magnet upgrade.
Oh and then there is dozer. Poor little dozer.
