How hard would it be to mod the game to make the final bosses easier? [Spoiler]
Because holy heck is that final Fang boss hard. Maybe if they just made the attacks damage instead of INSTANT DEATH it wouldn't be so bad

I think the better solution would be adding a checkpoint and some rings between the phases.

It'd be possible, but it probably wouldn't be a very good end result.
The final boss can be frustrating, I get it, but that's the point. It's supposed to test you, a lot of his fight is about careful positioning and speed management.
It does not, and will not, take sloppy play as an acceptable answer.

Removing the OHKO attacks would also remove any threat or sense of challenge. Now, instead of being careful on relying on your skills, you just gorilla him because you can't die as long as you have a ring you can continuously pick up. This is something that sega knew back in sonic 2, which is why silver sonic + death egg had to be done ringless.

For as much as a crutch rings are for inexperienced players, they also double as a balancing nightmare for anything else.

The fact that you have to fight two bosses back to back at the end of Sonic 2 without any rings or checkpoints is far and away the worst part of that game. Tbh, it's probably the worst part of the entire classic series.

Sonic 2 on Genesis was easy up until Wing Fortress Zone, at least for me. That and the final bosses required me to practice them, especially the Death Egg robot with how it can easily hit you whenever you try to hit its weak spot.

I can't confirm this myself, but this game appears to be written in Unity?

Does anyone know how to play this with friends? We don't know how to do it.

Look, i played the original games as a kid. I'm no longer a kid, but these fights sure as heck weren't as tuned towards perfectionism as this one. The Death Egg Robot from Sonic 2 is the high bar for difficulty for me. It was difficult, but the two bosses on the Death Egg had predictable and easy patterns once you figure them out.

I don't think you can play Trip's story multiplayer

Each attempt in Sonic 2 takes about 30 seconds to two minutes, not up to 10. You can kill Silver Sonic in about 10 seconds if you are good at the game. The issue with the Fang fight is how long it takes, and without completely re creating the fight, no amount of skill or practice is gonna speed it up.

While there is no checkpoint between the two phases of the boss, your emerald powers do regenerate. So you can use the emerald powers to get a few cheap hits with each phase to help.

There's a reason why the others have suggested adding a checkpoint in-between phases instead of making the attacks not one hit deaths, because I've played Sonic CD and the final boss in that game felt very anti-climatic mainly due to the fact that you're given rings for that boss making it far too easy, whereas the other games did not do this.

Sonic 1's final boss also had one hit deaths due to having no rings, but it was hard in a way that's challenging but fun. I do agree that Sonic 2's final boss was also a bit frustrating, but all they would need to do to fix that would be to put a checkpoint after the Silver Sonic battle.

There's a difference between being difficult and being unfair. Those bosses were difficult, but way easier than these bosses. I've finished Sonic 1 to Sonic & Knuckles last year (on the Genesys, no emulators) and I had no trouble at all with any bosses. But I'm having a lot of trouble with some bosses because before, you only had a couple of things to pay attention to. Now you have five or six and some are random...

The biggest difference is that those were short with death being a small delay, but death here puts you back minutes.

Besides for Super, I don't think any of the emerald powers can provide much help in phase 2.

i prefer an easy boss over a bad boss.
