They indeed are... always have been absurd
I like Mecha Fang, his attacks aren't that bad when you learn how they work. Even the insta-kill lasers are a non-issue once you learn that they move the exact same every time (stay semi-close to them, and they will roll right over you 100% of the time). The only attack I'd call bs is his second phase when he slams his hands, followed by his head, into the ground. If you don't know how that works, you most likely will get blind-sighted by that attack.

The only thing this boss asks of the player, is to observe how the attacks work. Every attack is pretty doable to avoid once you understand how they work (which won't take that long, they're pretty simple attacks). Just focus and pay attention and you'll nail it. It is a final boss, and it expects you to treat it as such. It's not going to let you gorilla your way through like every other sonic boss lets you do.

Pay attention, and stay focused. The boss is here to test what you've learned in regards to speed control and positioning, and it will not allow you to be sloppy with it and expect a free win.

The problem is how long the fight is, meaning you can spend 6 minutes only to have to start at the beginning of the fight if you make a mistake.
They should put checkpoints between phases in a future update to make it less frustrating

That'd be nice. This boss is giving me hell because of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ instant kills and how long the fight is. One mistake sending me back to phase 1 of the fight honestly makes me not wanna even attempt it anymore. I know restarting the entire fight was a thing in the old games, but that was to inflate the difficulty so people would spend more time with it. This is a modern game. Don't pull the Sonic 2 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I agree whole heartedly, I absolutely hate Trip's last boss. It already feels like the game just becomes an absolute slog the further on you get, but they can piss right off with Trip's boss fight.

Sonic Superstars went from a game I was enjoying early on to a game I'm only finishing because I paid for it...

i saw some people actually escaping from the annoying electric webs

i dont know how but it is "possible"
My suggestion is watch a guide on him and he'll be much easier. The most frustrating part of this boss is figuring out the best strategy
I have played thousands of videogames and beaten hundreds of "Final Bosses". I have to say in my 30+ years of playing videogames, the Trip's Story final boss is the worst boss fight I have ever played. This includes every Dark Souls and Souls-like, Battletoads, and any other old-school "get gud" single-life pixel-perfect b.s. nonsense.

How did this get through playtesting? Who thought this was okay? I have played every Sonic game and am very familiar with lame, dumb, unfair, or lazy bosses. This takes the cake. Congrats Sonic Team and Arzest, you get a trophy!

Gotta Go...straight to hell.

It's frustrating and may seem impossible at first, but remember 12.4% of players beat him. He's more tedious than difficult once you get the patterns down. Chaos Powers are your friend as well, and they reset between Form 1 and Form 2. A simple time stop or bullet can make the headbutt redundant. The only annoying part is the webs and those just take patience to get around. If you haven't beat him yet, don't give up! Once you get the patterns down he's not that bad.

What helped me is watching Twitch streamers play the boss and seeing how they eventually beat it. Figuring out the strategy is the toughest part until you see it done. Even then, it's still not too easy.

From my own experience, when you're in the second phase, the first two net attacks are going to be "high". When he does that, when you stand on top of the highest mound you can easily jump over it. Once you're own the third set of nets, he's going to switch to low. This is where you need to take it slow and easy. When he's about to show low, jump in the air and your going to set the "low" net high up and easily dodge it. If you get stuck, mash every button and you can at least get out of the first phase.

You have two guaranteed attacks with the Emerald powers. If you have trouble with hitting his head slam phase like I did, just ignore it because eventually he'll go back to do the first two attacks with the badniks and barrels. Your patience will be tested.

You know...I would say in terms of hardest platforming bosses ever that Mecha Fang and the dragon weren't as bad as the wolf mage and final boss of High Seas Havoc on the Genesis. Then I remembered that at least they know when to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ die and don't have any sort of attack that instantly kills you or removes the entire freaking floor without warning.
