skill issue: egg fortress act 2 boss
the boss for egg fortress act 2 is ridiculous two extremely long phases and ZERO checkpoints??? rings sometimes fall through the floor in this sequence meaning you can just randomly have zero rings. it kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks for a "final" boss.

Lmao sega REALLY took "games to easy" personally maybe this will convince people to keep their traps shut about video game difficulty.

Here's the trick. In phase two, shortly after landing the third hit on the boss activate the avatar ability and the boss will be defeated.

Don't forget to use your Emerald powers! The Avatar Summon helps with those battles at the end.

The only thing about that boss that pissed me off was I couldn't figure out that you had to run behind him. When I moved left or right he tracks you for a bit and my stupid brain was like "oh okay so can't get behind him yet."

No, he just stops tracking you after like 10 steps and I was stupid. Beat him with Amy then beat him with Sonic, it's easier the second time.

I'm glad they made Sonic games more challenging. I always remember finding the classic Master System and Mega Drive games too easy and IMHO it wasn't until Sonic Unleashed (PS3 and Xbox 360) the games started to present a proper challenge.

The boss is just extremely broken in general, I've had everything from all the characters taking 5~ minutes to fall on the boss platform during the opening cutscene to the floor randomly disappearing and killing everyone. It's one of the buggiest boss fights I've fought in any game.

i had none of these issues the only bug i had encountered was sometimes my rings fell through the main platform.

I am actively fighting the boss rn and I literally just randomly fell through the floor and died for zero reason this is wack :papyruswacky:

The easiest way to beat this boss is to save the powerups for the 2nd phase.
Keep at least 1 ring for it.
2nd phase you need to hit him 3 times and then immediately pop the avatar powerup to get the hit when he does the spinning death attack.. as the hitboxes are whacked for it.

The only other useful powerups are slow and bullet.
You can use these two to avoid the lasers and make the zero gravity section 100x easier.

The first phase you need to get lucky (some electric attack spawns are unavoidable and blue bombs either spawn okay, or in BS positions), but as long as you get to the 2nd phase with 1 ring and you haven't used avatar/slow/bullet, it is pretty easy to pull off.

If anyone else is looking at this forum in the future, please listen to everyone's advice here. Don't forget to use your emerald powers!

For me, I used the avatar power after landing the 4th hit in the second phase. My Tails clones made quick work of the boss. (I see people saying 3rd hit, but I'm pretty sure it's 4th hit of the second phase, right before the spinning attack).

I spent a few hours slamming my head against a wall (not literally, though I'm afraid to admit I maybe was getting close...) trying to beat this boss the old fashioned way without emerald powers. But the way I see it, if the game is cruel enough to have weird hit boxes, rings falling through the floor, and no checkpoints for an 8+ minute fight, then anything goes.
