Game Doesn't Start

Ensure you have the latest 1.04 hotfix

You can check what version you have by

Right click-> Properties->Updates-> BuildID: 15812194

If its not this or higher, update the game by going to Installed Files-> Verify integrity of game files

Game Cause PC To Reboot/Shutdown

This is currently being investigated but if you have this issue please try the following

* Enable Vsync
* Limit the FPS in Settings
* Limit the cores used by the game

Right click game in steam->Properties -> General

In the "LAUNCH OPTIONS" put in

-MaxThreads 4

This limits the game to 4 threads. Try increasing or decreasing this number.

Windows Error 0x80070005

This is caused by your anti-virus flagging the launcher as a potential virus. Please add whitelisting to the install directory or to the files

The Game Requires a DX12 Compliant Video Card

As per the system requirements this game requires a DX12 compliant video card. To check this launch

Dxdiag.exe

And under the "Display" tab please check the "Feature Levels". This section must have 12_1 or 12_0 listed. If it does not, your video card is not DX12 compliant

No Xbox Login Window?

The login box pops up in the desktop of your computer. If the game doesn't switch focus, you'll need to alt-tab out of the game and find the Xbox Login window. Once you find it, log into your Xbox account.

If you're having issues seeing the login window, set the game to "Windowed Mode" from

Settings->Video->Windowed

Then click the xbox login button. The window should now appear in front of the game. Once you've logged in, you can switch back to Fullscreen

Disable Vsync

There's currently an issue where enabling Vsync is not having the intended behavior. Please disable Vsync if you're seeing performance issues. The devs are aware of the issue and are working on a patch.

I Need To Reset Settings Outside The Game

If you changed some video settings that are causing super weird issues, you can revert all your settings to default by going to

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Ara History Untold

Delete the files

Settings_v121.txt
PrivateSettings_v121.txt

Update Your Video Card Drivers

This is the next most common cause for people's inability to run the game, particularly on PC.

It is important that you update your drivers through software provided by your video card manufacturer or directly from their site. Using Windows or updating software provided by your laptop manufacturer to find more recently drivers is less reliable, as they will likely only have drivers that initially shipped with the product, or will be out of date with the actual video card manufacturer.

Always make sure you reboot your machine after installing the drivers, just to be safe. Then try relaunching the game.

Laptop users should force their Nvidia/AMD cards

Use the Nvidia Control Panel or AMD CCC to force the game to use your built in GPU instead of the Intel one

Try manually installing VCRedist 2022 from

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2022\vc_redist.x64.exe

REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER AFTER REINSTALLING. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL

Install DirectX Jun 2010 Redist

Manually install DirectX 2010 from

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\dxsetup.exe

REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER AFTER REINSTALLING. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL

Windows N Download Media Feature Pack

If you are running a Windows "N" variant, you need to install the media feature pack so the intro movie will play

Post your system specs and details about your issue

It's important for the devs to know what your system specs are if they are to troubleshoot issue. Try to put a baseline information such as

You can also go to the Steam Client and go to
Steam-Help-System Information

That window has a lot of technical stuff about your system that can help the devs identify things

If you have a game crash issue, the log file from that playsession will also be helpful, you can find that in

Also when describing your problem be as descriptive as possible. They'll need to recreate your problem so more details is always better. Adding screenshots can also be helpful in describing visual issues.
