1. Did you ever actually get a game to start with any mods enabled?
2. Try subscribing to and enabling one of the original mods (Tech Pacing Mod by Tandis is a good candidate) and no others and see if an error appears.
3. Also make sure there is no "Update Mods" button in the upper left corner. If there is, then your data for mods is out of sync with what is on Mod.io and clicking this button should sync the two.
Can you share what the exact error you are getting is?
I can't start game with mods enabled. There are two scenarios:
1. "mod reconfiguration failed" error comes up, with a prompt to check the logs folder. And with this step the 'modding enabled' automatically becomes disabled.
2. with some mods, I can start the game, but that is an instant CTD.
In the log file there's an entry:
[2025-01-08 13:10:07.994] [Warning|Modding ] User does not have permission to view user generated content. Mod Browser will be disabled.
Potentially because I circumvented the mod.io log-in accidentally, by closing the window.
(I quickly checked baldurs gate 3 implementation, they don't allow you to close the window, and it seems there's a non-sign-up limited modding functionality as well. I'm not sure what does that even mean.)
It seems some mods are not coming up with the reconfiguartion error, but then I get an error about 'failed to log in', with an in-game UI pop-up (not like the mod.io sign-in), but I'm not able to do anything about it, it just disappears. And the end result is CTD.
