A mistake ARA
Tried the game now. I have 7600 hours on civ 5. 800 hours on civ 6. And around 1000 hours on hoi4 and eu4 each. Ara looked so refreshing before release and looked like how civ 7 would look like but too much unnecessery micromanagement and a boring map look. looks like a small indi game. Civ and Ara game should be build out of the real earth map with tsl and not small fantasy maps wich is boring after the early game. i am not impressed but dissapointed. It looked good but its not. I dont know wath more i can say without being dissapointed. Well have to wait for civ 7 now and see, but im not going for that either after the fail of civ 6 so will se. guess i have to stick with civ 5 since 2010 in the future until another good game comes up.

Eh, extremely disagree. Never got the appeal of playing with a map that I already know what looks like in a game like this. I'll leave real world maps for PDS and TW games.

Then again, I'm of course not against a introduction of a Earth Map for those that do want it.

Also extremely disagree. Real world maps are just the same game over and over. As Ellye, I'm not opposed the option, especially since there's already a preset maps toggle. But for me personally, give me procgen any day.

Yea of course it should have different maps and scenario but i think it should be based of the real earth map. counqer the world not some islands. same over and over? play different civs around the world to make that up

The problem with real earth maps is the player has a massive advantage over AI. You already know where the choke points and good land will be. You know roughly what type of resources will spawn where. It kills the eXplore part of 4x leaving you to just eXpand, eXterminate, and eXploit

It's great for alt history or a power fantasy, but that's about it

I will never understand the fixation some people have on the 'real world map', especially since a real world map cannot even be displayed properly in 2D and makes a mess of proportions in games that are all about territory.

I definitely agree about missing the ball with a Real World map that would definitely be a great addition to the game... Currently I find the "Huge" map to be far too small when you put all 36 nations in everyone is far too cramped... the map needs to be drastically bigger...

From Act 2 it becomes very micro, very slow. And from then on all you do is try to balance food shortage or wood shortage, mostly food. And the game doesn't change from then on anymore.

Cool concept but bad in practice.

I guess it wouldn't be such an issue when you could display just farms or just housing etc, but it's just a list, a very long list you have to scroll through and click small boxes for the bonus workers or upgrade. Not very satisfying
