Case Fans going absolutely WILD when I pass turn!
Anyone else experienced this?

Specs:
5800 x3d, 240mm kraken AIO cooling it
4070 Super
32GB RAM

CPU takes a HUGE spike when I pass turn and my... front case fans speed up like it's the end of the world?

Anyone got anything similargoing on?

Generally the more graphic options on the more it’ll try to do.

Is it cpu or gou fans?

Neither, they're just my front case 120mm fans. The AIO is a 240mm and those fans stay silent. My liquid stays under 31c. The CPU is getting up to like 70 which is NOT common for any game I've ever played... & the GPU fans are fine. They all stay on their curve.

Fans are also fine during gameplay 99% of the time. It's when I click "Next Turn" that they ramp up to 120%.

Ok that’s interesting. The cpu isn’t surprising. That living world sim is no joke.

Try this: in settings turn down the living world detail.

Check the motherboard fan curves. Could be they're reacting to an onboard sensor which is seeing a hot spot. Could also be it's using a default curve which is more of a cliff than a curve (particularly if there's a silent mode, since that usually means 0% fans until it hits the arbitrary temp then 100% fan until it drops below).

I use Fan Speed to set manual fan curves.

Ok going to have to think about it. We have some ideas.

What i noticed was that the game runs fine for me on max details with around 100-110 fps. then i tapped out on the desktop and returned to 10fps without recovering.
specs:
i7 13700
GTX 4090
64GB Ram

Yeah I get this too. I think it's because there is no Borderless Fullscreen option, only exclusive.

Also I'm on Gamepass...

While we investigate this, one thing to try is go to your power settings in Windows and try using Balanced instead of High performance (just as a way to see if it makes a difference).

I was already on Balanced.

Ok so your'e way ahead of me.

We know it's the CPU because you mentioned it's during the turn processing where it's using all the CPU cores to the max.

BTW, what temperature is your CPU getting to when this happens?

Ok so after some tinkering, now it's only my GPU fans going crazy - and again only during turn processing lol. I plugged my front fans into the other side of my fan hub.

Now, when I pass turn my GPU fans ramp to 100%. On Ultra, or all low. 1440p or 1080p.

CPU only gets to about 65c with my graphics on all low.

https://imgur.com/a/k7x2Wsc Here are my temps. This is all low graphics settings @ 1440p.

https://imgur.com/a/A5o97Kk Here are my temps. This is ultramaxx doom-god settings @ 1440p. I don't think the game should be this taxing on a 4070 Super, but you can see even at low settings I'm still hitting 1600RPM on my fans - which is about 65%. I can run MW3 with RTX on and not have that GPU utilization or temp.

That being said... just running the game and in the game world, while my FPS is low, my temps aren't spiking to 80 on my GPU. That only happens on turn processing. Seems like that should be CPU heavier, no?
