People hating on Civ 7's empire transitions between eras, but personally this culling of entire empires at the end of eras if they fall behind is way way bigger of an issue to me. That means there is no "coming back" or rebounding for anyone including AI. This also suggests that AI is basic, and they as usual in the past 20 years of gaming, neglected and did the bare bones for AI, especially now that the failure of AI is baked into a mechanic of culling...

The point is maybe it makes sense for ancient cultures that really did not have contact with each other that kingdoms just disappeared to them. But it pretty dam obvious that no one just disappears. It just a lack a documentation. It would make sense for someone to have to try to overcome something to stay in the game.

Civ 6's dark age is a joke. I often forced myself not to go in a normal age by not getting any discoveries or other score events so I can then be in a dark age with little to no disadvantages or maybe even some advantage and then get a perfect heroic age. It was so OP with Spain to get a heroic age with cheap and powerful settlers and another bonus. Mostly everything about Civ 6 is a joke starting graphics etc... I hope and I am even sure Ara will be way better in most ways. It is not possible not so see this after putting hundreds and thousands of hours in games like civ.

I mean it wasn't it intended to be like that. It was intended to apply to everybody not just AIs, but they changed it (at least assuming) because a sizable number of people (Don't know enough to determine if it was a majority or not) were apprehensive about it. We'll see how it turns out and if that change was for better. It's not that big a deal as in single player you can just restart if that happens or have some kind of house rule for MP. Allowing individual players to resign in MP matches would be a solution as well.

You will get to the end of the game, I think not so much nations get deleted, only few. If not, you played too bad then and should not get to the end of a game. It is possible to set difficulty level and we were promised AI will only have little and described, not fog of war cheats, and only on highest difficulty levels. Historically many successful nations were wiped out. Hatti empire was destroyed and later even remnants of it ceased to exist. And they were a great military power 3500 years ago, not some kind of weaklings.

It shouldn't be that hard; AI (at least in most games) isn't that smart yet :)
