The Spiffing Brit video
Further proof of what is obvious to the few that dared follow and hope for this game to reach its potential (I don't own the game, but I gave it a shot on Game Pass at release, I hope to try it again in a year or so).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXxOmvMhn88

And just to prove it isn't all negative, here's a quote from the very end of the video: "Developers, keep your chin up you've evidently spent a lot of time on this and I can see the passion you have for your video game. So, keep up the hard work tell Xbox to give you a bloody marketing budget and have some fun with it."

Overall, I think it's a great and fair summary. Just make sure to address the concerns about the game before you go big with the post-release marketing. 👍

+1, the game is great hopefully it would reach its real potential, The devs here have been so transparent and I think this is one of the best relationship with the gamers of this game (based on my dev interaction here)

I hope the devs take advantage of this video and strike while the Iron Age is hot, so to speak. They won't get many other chances to be in this kind of spotlight. An official reply in the video's comments that Spiff might pin would be a good start. A significant sale may also be a good idea, along with a free content update for people that already bought the game. Anything would be better than nothing, IMO. Now is the time to engage the conversation with a wider audience.

devs just need to keep listening to players feedback in a critical way and improve the game based on that...tackling the biggest issues with priority

that's what they did in the alpha tests and it looks like they are doing that after release 👍🏻

the game will never get tens of thousands of daily players, but it can build a nice playerbase as the game core is great and the improvements will expand and refine on that....

Except the Mexico advantage wasn't nearly as good as he claimed. He didn't even know you get a free feast from defeating a wild animal that takes 2 or more days.

Honest review, thanks for sharing.

I agree the Mexico advantage was overblown a bit, but that is his style, and the actual numbers he shared were real/fair. The second half of the video was spot on, though. I hope the 1.1 update addresses a lot of it. If you are going to make a game like Ara, then you need to support it with a UI that keeps in manageable without being tedious.

He kind of summarized my time with it when he said "for those not completely into it, the micromanagement will be too much and most will lose interest", that's paraphrasing. I have it on pc game pass, and simply got to a point where i never continued game due to all micro and other reasons.

They are working on much more amenities. so stay tuned :D

I watch his channel normally so I watched it when it first came out and agreed with essentially everything in the video. It echoes much of what the fanbase has already said.

We're working on an updated roadmap that helps communicate what we have in progress already including:

1. Reduced micromanagement (v1.1)
2. More diplomatic options (v1.x)
3. More supply chain management (v1.x)
4. Centralized economic management (v1.1 -- as a starting point).
5. More distinction between nations (v1.2)
6. Modding (v1.2)
7. Better warfare / combat (v1.x)
8. Better UI in general (v1.x)

And all of the above are part of free updates. This isn't going to be one of those games where it tries to charge its fans for these kinds of improvements with DLCs.

do you plan for monthly big updates as the 1.1?

Thank you Tandis for keeping us up to date. It's nice to read that you have a plan to develop the game so that it meets the needs of the community. But, besides the game features...please don't forget the performance. This should also be continually improved. I hope that we will see a first step towards a significant performance improvement. I...we're looking forward to Thursday.

Your intermediate exams are in February, then you have to compare yourself with other competitors...

Stay hungry. Your journey is just beginning.

Yes. As updates go, 1.1 is actually a smaller update than what is coming in 1.2 and 1.3.

The mandate from Microsoft is this: Make you guys happy. :)

Wonderful.

24. Dezember Update 1.2. 🎅
13. Februar Update 1.3

yep, huge potential in this one (and being half german, Spiff is right I am loving this).

though personally, I wish the maps are bigger.... the biggest ones right now can't really fit 30 without them all surrounding you.
