Up Arrow Key Stuck
In the main menu I get a problem where the selection box constantly changes so I cannot select any menu items. It is almost as if the up arrow key is being held down. Google failed me. Has anybody else had this problem?

I do not have this problem in any other game.

I'm having a similar problem in that it is behaving as if the left arrow key is stuck down. So far it's the only game with the issue. Game is flat out unplayable.

Is this a recent change or has it always done that?

Either way, if you have another input device in your system but aren't actually using it, unplug it. Additional joysticks and such can cause problems with W7 at least, maybe others. I gifted a friend a game and he complained about the same issue. He solved it by unplugging a joystick he had just left connected. I plugged in a wired controller and it picked up on it and switched to using it automatically.

I don't have a joystick, gamepad, steering wheel, or any other perepheral plugged in. Just my USB mouse and USB keyboard. Also a webcam.

Is this a laptop or desktop? If it is a laptop check to see if there is a newer version of the trackpad driver, as I have seen those cause problems before. If it is a desktop I would unplug the webcam just to test.

Depending on the Windows version you might need to check the remove software/hardware manager and see if some older driver is still hanging around. This wont matter if you have only ever had that keyboard/mouse combo connected though.

Have you contacted any support page?
From the developer in particular?

I have not tried getting support from the publisher as forums are usually faster than a 48 hour generic response.

I have never had any gamepad or other peripheral plugged in, nor have I had any hardware drivers aside from the obvious (GPU, chipset, etc). I tried unplugging the webcam then starting the game back up. Same problem arises, made no difference.

This is a desktop.

Same issue here. I have this problem with this game and Hitman Absolution, but nothing else. It seems to be unique to Enix software.

Resolved my issue. I had rudder pedals that SD was registering as the primary controller for whatever reason. The give away is the prompts to use controller buttons on the menus instead of a mouse cursor and keyboard key prompts. Open device manager and see what you have hooked up. I've read some people had the issue caused by a Webcam. Short version - the software likes to choose your primary controller for you, but does a poor job of it.

This also fixed my issue with Hitman Absolution.

OP, did you get this resolved? I'm in the same boat as you. Only a mouse, keyboard, webcam. Have unplugged the webcam even. Also tried reinstalling the game, to no avail. Arrrrgh.

Have not fixed this issue. Very strange.

I'm having an issue with this too, and I haven't yet figured out how to fix it. Does anybody else who's experiencing this issue have a Saitek 'gaming' keyboard? I do, and it's given me problems on other games. If I'd known it was such a special snowflake, I never would have bought the thing.

Found a solution that worked for me. Go into Device Manager, Human Interface Devices. Disable any of them that show up with (HID). I have a Saitek keyboard and it had several options for programmable buttons that were showing up. Once I disabled all of them with (HID) the game worked finally.

Had the same problem. I have a Saitek Eclipse keyboard and had to disable those HID drivers for the gamepad & hotkeys I don't use. Game works as expected now. Thanks Macheras for the tip.

I discovered a pretty great solution that involved unplugging the stupid Saitek keyboard and plugging in a keyboard that didn't have identity issues. :P

I faced the same issue recently and solved that removing Vjoy, in case it could help someone at some stage
