HKShip.exe has stopped working

I know that this topic has been discussed multiple times. I still haven't found a fix for this. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, basically, I start up Sleeping Dogs and then the game crashes immediately on start-up after getting to the first screen with all of the company logos on it.

I have tried:

1. Installing the HD Texture Pack
2. Reinstalling
3. Verifying integrity of game cache numerous times
4. Compatibility mode
5. Running as administrator
6. Using a desktop shortcut instead of through Steam
7. Executing it through the folder
8. Turning off anti-aliasing and etc. through NVidia control panel

All of these solutions have yet to work for me and I still need a fix. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Having the same problem but I have found that I experience the issue about ten minutes into game play which is weird. Also I was playing last night for a couple of hours and had no crash at all. Are you using a NVidia graphics card?

I have a similar problem, except I can't even get the company logos, it just instantly crashes.

However, I'm using an ATI 4870.

mine is about the same, after the logos though, when i start to play the game after the loading screen. only the first time though.

has anyone found a solution to this? ive owned this game for months and i havent been able to fix it.

funny how i had this just yesterday... apparently the HKShip.exe was missing from SleepingDogs folder and Steam populated it with some 4kb files named HKShip.SteamStart.0123 or something. You need to remove all those 4kb files and do another "Integrity Verification"
