Is this game good with just keyboard and mouse?
I'm leaning towards getting this game but was curious if its playable with just a mouse/keyboard or if you need the controller. I found Assassin Creed 2 to be pretty unfun/difficult w/o a controller and was wondering if this game was the same.

I played the demo with the mouse and keyboard but after just buying it, I've been using the Xbox controller. The fighting seems easier to me. But, I'm use to playing with a controller on PS3, so get a second opinion.

Hmm, I think these open world console conversion type games are really better with a controller. Perhaps this more than any other as there is a lot of reflex based fighting and driving involved.

For sure many games benefit from K/M combinations (strategy, RPG, FPS, etc), but I'm not sure this is one of the games that would suit K/M.

My first instinct was to pick up a controller and play it with that.

TB uses KB+M in his WTF is, and explains the problems that come with it. it seems doable, but just not as fluid as with a controller

well i've played it with K/M and its pretty easy de controls are really fluid u should always haven't have any problem using it, and u always have the chance of using a controller later on if u cant adapt to the K/M coombination

You're almost better off with a KB+M for driving, since there's a lot of issues with the analog controls on the vehicles. I'd say give KB+M a shot. I'm thinking about switching from a controller to a KB+M for this game.

I haven't reached any shooting portions yet, but I imagine I'm going to be keeping my 360 controller next to the keyboard and swapping to it for driving/fighting while going kb/m for shooting.

Plays really good with keyboard and mouse for me.

personally i prefer the response of the KBnM over the controller.... even while driving, the keyboard and mouse are alot more responsive. all 3 (keyboard.mouse, controller) i own are programmable so i just switch the layout to one thats more comfortable for the specific game.
but 90% of the time i use my KB

I guess its mainly a personal issue, if youve spent the last 10 years using controlers, you will feel better with those, but if you used a KB for the last 10 yrs then KB will be better...

I find there are VERY few games that i use the controler for... and usually its indie platformers or old games from last millenia :D

mechanical keyboards.... once you go clack, youll never go back :P

Keyboard and Mouse works fine for me, though the camera in cars is rather horrible, when you're trying to turn around and such, but that's not the fault of the controller scheme, just bad programming.
goku_ssj_uk Jan 29, 2013 @ 12:21pm
I used Keyboard and Mouse to play the entire game and it's fine, however you might run into a few issues especially on ONE level at the end where you need to rebind a key for it to work, see here - http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2913782

I rebound it to Mouse 1 and did the mission first time then rebinded it and continued as normal.

The day a PC game requires a controller, i will never, under any circumstances, purchase another product from that developer, publisher, or their relatives ever again.

What the hell has happened to gaming.....

gods man check your history will you. controllers have long been tied with PC's, hell some games, some of the best games ever made, could only be played with a controller. There's nothing wrong with using a controller for PC games

First time i ever used a controller was on a PC, only console i've ever had was a PS1+2 for Final Fantasy. Never had a 360 or a PS3 and i still prefer controllers for some games. The simple fact is controlers handle some games better than keyboards, and visa versa

I tryed with a keyborad and mouse but found it akward to do the free running sections of the game since the you have to use the space bar, and driving was akward when it came to ramming since the defualt button was the left ctrl, so I swithced to a controler and it was a lot easier after that

LOL!!!! AHAHAHAHAHA, please name a great PC game that required a controller. Even just one game that wasnt a flight sim. You have almost always been able to use controllers with PC games, but no PC game requires it; and if it did, it sure as hell would not be great game.

Kid, i hate to break it to you but consoles took gaming back 5 years. The Battlefield series is a prime example.

Not “required” but any game that makes use of a throttle is better with a controller/joy stick. The keys on a keyboard only have on/off state unlike thumb/joy sticks.

You need to get over your PC superiority complex, it's blinding you. Used a joystick on my apple IIc… kid
