Trainer for version 1.8 not working?

Steam updated my game to version 1.8. I downloaded that +20 trainer by LingOn, but I can't seem to get it to work. I made sure to get the trainer for version 1.8, and I would start the game, alt+tab, start the trainer, then go back to game, press the Home key, but nothing would happen, no sound would play to let me know that the trainer is activated.

Anyone else having trouble with this new trainer? Anyone actually get it to work?

Oh and don't lecture me about using trainers. I rarely ever use them except for certain types of games, like this one. And I only look for trainers for a game if I attempt to play it without a trainer but cannot get past certain parts.
