Cant change buttons to the way I want. Are you kidding?
Im an ex pro PC gamer. I have a ps3 but it collects dust. I do all my gaming on a PC and I ALWAYS use the same button layout for the past 12 years for all my PC games. If I cant change the buttons to the way I want, I dont play it.

The point is, Im sick of these console ported games that are supposed to be really awesome from the reviews, but I cant change the damn buttons!

I cant even change forward, back, left, right to the arrow keys. In fact every button I use is on that side of the keyboard and It will only let me configure num keys.

This game it totally useless to me now because Im not learning to play a pc game with a controller.

I bought this game as a PC game, please give me the options I need to change the damn buttons so us PC gamers can play too!

Agreed. Those devs so lazy nowadays -_-
Additionally only xbox controllers are supported and I always have to use x360ce emulator and it STILL doesn't always work :/

I think this has been mentioned a number of times before on these forums and I too cannot play this game due to Not being able to define the Keyboard arrow keys for movement. For some odd reason this particular game (and I've found it in no other since 1992) will Not allow remapping to the Arrow keys.

Due to disability I rely on using the arrow keys for movement, END key for Jump and DELETE for Crouch. Many modern day games have the arrow keys indicated as secondary movement keys, so you don't have to change anything, with the rest giving you the option to remap - but this game it's a big fat NO!

Edit: Will Check out Remapping Software, including one from Microsoft.

I've tried 2 different remapping tools and they both cause your character to get stuck in the running position. Which means when your in a fight all you do is run into walls until you reboot the game. Not saying this will affect everyone, but that was my experience. I used GlovePie and AutoHotKey.

I ended up using my numberpad as the movement keys and after awhile I didn't even notice. Especially since almost everything can be mapped within the radius of the numberpad. It sucks but it worked for me and allowed me to finally play this awesome game.

I will try the Microsoft one soon....

Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator is at version 1.4

This is the Microsoft page:- http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/goglobal/bb964665.aspx
which states it's for newer versions of Windows.
The Microsoft Download page it links to for version 1.4 lists upto Vista, although I guess it will work fine on later versions of Windows. That page is here:- http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=22339

Note: You've probably got Microsofts .NET Framework installed on your PC, but it is a requirement, just incase you cannot get this program running.

Phantoms answer helped with the pinnacle software but it took a while to get it properly set - I had to download pre made settings and customize buttons. I'll post details when I'll get back home.

pinnacle is amazing... i used to use it all the time for games that did not have controller support but it has many many functions.. you can even bind all the combinations of a key such as press, hold, double tap to make one key do three functions.. also you can use a key as a shift to make other set keys change to different actions.. wonderful program well worth the support price to get all the features and the creator has top notch support

I thought the Pinnacle program was chargeable or have I got that wrong? Perhaps a cut down freeware version?

I've checked quite a few keyboard remapping software programs recently, that i've started to forget which one does what.

All I want to do is just simply be able to use my Keyboard arrow keys for movement as I do with every other game. If someone has done just that I'd be interested to know with what the software was? I considered using the numeric pad but that is difficult for me, although better than some of the other keyboard variations.

Yep, it's quite expensive when there is a free x360ce emulator which basicly does the same thing, but Pinnacle does it better - but it has a 30 days trial so I recommend you check it out. I still haven't bought it - don't want to buy a program for only one game (other games work with x360ce).

Thanks DeKK, thats good feedback. I'll check it out when I'm about to try the game again and if the program (trial) really does do the job well then I'll buy it.

Just to double check that we are talking about the same software:-

http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/ ? thanks.

yeah, that's the one :)
MFKNINJADAGR8 Jan 3, 2014 @ 6:22pm
yeah it allows you to remap for any game that doesnt already have it by binding any key on a keyboard, controller, whatever ot whatever keyboard mouse etc fucntion you can think of and then some...you can also use it to enhance usability on alot of games where you dont agree with the way the controls work...i.e. rebind hold of a key to a simple button press tha autoamatically holds it for certain time... also the biggest beauty of pinnacle is if you use controllers or certain keyboards/special gamepads most certainly someone has created a profile for the game you want and you can download others as well as share your own...you can also set profiles for every exe you want including profiles for software etc...miss a keyboard shortcut the new version of a program doesnt have most times you can create it by defining your own new keybind :0

I used to use a Joystick on a PC about 20 years ago, but games were more basic then and joysticks were a popular accessory which i used on Amigas too. But the Game Pads such as with the first Playstation I just couldn't get on with, so over the years and due to disability I've tried to get as comfortable around the arrow keys of a standard keyboard as best as i can.

The other area I have issues is if the character has to jump and make fancy moves, like in say Tomb Raider and sadly it's not long to when I give up on the game - I have a fair few titles where I have done that with.

Just hoping Sleeping dogs doesn't require to much keyboard manipulation to get the character to do complex fight moves, which say have to be done to get through the game? Thats where I prefer games that give the option where you can tailor Melee or Firearm to your own style of play.
