low resolutions for 16:9
any way to set there custom resolution so the game runs more smooth for me but still 16:9

or using some 4:3 resolution and "zooming" it to 16:9 cutting top and bottom of it which doesnt matter, because game hud is made only for 16:9

I really don´t know what exactly you mean. But I could play this game in 5:4 (1280x1024) without black lines on top and button.

I need low resolution to prevent the game from those moments when the game doesnt react to any imput for few seconds

there isnt any 16:9 resolutions low enough

I have just recently got the game to work, but at first there was performance issues, the menu and sound would stutter, the game would briefly pause and the controls seemed a bit unresponsive, a bit like it was running on an Xbox emulator. I checked the HKSHIP.exe and it was set to run in compatibility mode for Windows 95, I turned off compatibility mode and it run much better. This could be something to try if your graphics card is not giving you the performance you expect from the game.

I cant seem to find that settings

Right click on Sleeping Dogs in Steam, choose properties. Select the Local Files tab, and choose Browse local files.

This will bring up the sleeping dogs files stored on your computer. Then locate the HKSHIP.exe file, right click on it, choose properties, then select compatibility mode tab. This is where you set compatibility mode. It is normally done for games that will not start, that is when I changed the setting, trying to get the game to get past the logos without crashing.

If you haven't already messed with the setting it is probably already running without compatibility mode. You could try a different setting, but it may not help your problem.

What graphics card are you running?

I haven't played the game enough yet to be able to comment if I have any issue like that, I have only just got it to start. Maybe it could be a virus checker or some other program that is periodically running on your PC, anyway I hope you manage to get it sorted and that it isn't a common issue for people.

1. Try to update your video card drivers.

2. Maybe you can change manually the resolution in the settings file. Go here: \Steam\steamapps\common\SleepingDogs\Data . Find the file "DisplaySettings.xml" and copy it to your desktop so you have a backup copy of the original file. Now open this file in the steam directory with Editor. Try to find the settings of resolution and type in what resolution you want to have to. If this doesn´t work, copy the backup file from the desktop back to the steam directory.
