runtime error C++ hkship.exe

I was playing the game fine last night until I woke up today and now when I boot the game I get a message saying "runtime error C++ hkship.exe" I'm running a 64bit Windows 10 and my specs are...

CPU: INTEL CORE i5 3570K @ 3.40GHz
RAM: 8GB RAM
MOBO: ASROCK Z77 EXTREME 6
GPU: MSI NVIDIA 760 GTX 2GB

what's causing this issue? is their a fix for this I was really getting into the game last night.

Does your game boot up to the main menu then you get the message?

hmm same thing with me.
Not played in a long time.
Booted it up last night fine,tried just now i get that error as well.


I bet it something to do with steam.
This is not the first time steam has messup some games.

Same thing happens to me, you can ignore it if you just alt tab back to the game and press alt enter (if its not in fullscreen) you can still play the game but I don't know if it will crash mid-game

played it the last days got 35 hours playtime and had no problems. last time i played was tonight around 6am.
now i tried to start it and i get the exact same error like you guys. i think it's because it can't connect to social hub. (it says its disconnected in the bottom right) maybe servers are down?

it's happening right after you click on main story or DLC stories. tried all the fixes like repair game files, reinstall dirext x, vcredist, drivers, disabled steam overlay, disabled afterburner, run as admin, compatible mode and so on.

ITS NOT YOUR FAULT GUYS we have to wait :(

i really want to play. how to contact any one from square enix. guess they won't check this forum and also not the game because it's so old. hope it will work later again man i was looking forward to finish the game to 100%

That's the thing if it is something to do with the social hub causing this issue then that's sucks and stupid. I feel like either you talk to Valve or Square Enix I still don't think you will get a fix.

I have the same problem when i start the game it normally starts but then the notlification comes with, i don't played for a minute only a benchmark test last week
I really want to play this game, i tried everything, re-installing the game, directx or upgrading my drivers.
I dont know how i can fix it please help

you can't fix it. we all got the problem suddenly and it worked fine last night so it has to do something with the social hub servers. all we can do is wait. probably contacting square enix doesn't help because until they pass the message to someone who can help its already fixed anyway.

yep social hub working and now i don't get the error.
So S.E social hub is some sort of drm,if that dont work nor does this game.

Yep.
This game does not say it has drm hence why i bought it.
if the hub is down and stops us from playing that's like bad drm to me.
This is why i hate drm,it only affects us buyers.
