Error all of a sudden
I recently started getting an error from Microsoft Visual C++ saying that "The application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way. It played fine until a few days ago. I tried everything on the interned. I reinstalled the runtime, I even reinstalled WIndows, but the error is still there. I started to think that there is a problem with the registry. I would appreciate some help. EDIT: Seems like blocking Hkship in Windows Firewall does the trick. A little window saying that you are not connected to the social hub will show up, but the game runs well.

When did you start getting the error ? Now that you told me you are getting it too, I am starting to think that it's something wrong with the game and not my pc.

Same problem here. You can still play and ignore the error window.

I know. That's what I did at one point, but it still froze and crashed on me over 10 or 20 minutes of gameplay. I want to fix it for good. The problem is, I don't really know what caused the error.

I think whats causing the error is it can't reach the servers to display leaderboards, stats and whatnot. From what I've found googling it is that this error will occasionally pop up when the servers can't be reached, then go away just as quick when connection is made again in a few days. But who knows when this server connection problem might become permanent. It may already be the case now.

Same problem here, it seems Jord68 is right. When I start my game up it shows that it can't connect to the internet.

Does it connect after the error pops up ? Mine says the exact same thing, until the error puts the game in windowed mode. After that, I can see the year of the snake picture with the writing below it.

No idea, there's one thing I noticed. My friends don't appear in the "challenges" like clean driving.

Same problem for me since the last few days... Suddenly after 7 hours of playing.
Hope, there will be a solution for that.

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

We are sorry to hear of your issues with the game.

We would ask you to firstly verify the integrity of the game cache in Steam. To do this, right click on the game in your library, then go to properties. If you can then click on local files and then verify integrity of game cache. This will check all the files, and if there is an issue with any of them, it will download a replacement.

Please also manually install all redistributable files found in the game folder in Steam/Steamapps/Common/SleepingDogs/Redist

If the problem persists, please ensure you have the latest version of Microsoft C++ found here:

If we can be of any further assistance do not hesitate to contact us again.

Kind regards,

The Square Enix Support Centre team

They told me the same thing. I did everything they said and it still won't work. The only fix I have found is disconnecting my pc from the internet, so it won't try to connect to the social hub.
